Yes, immediately take the child to urgent care. The child requires antibiotics and fever reducer ASAP. Otherwise the child life is being endangered.

Antibiotic injection ASAP

Don't even think about taking the antibiotic pills. The child needs care real quick because this can be deadly.

OP, if your child throat is so sore he can't swallow and is running a fever, go to the Er NOW! When you look at his throat and see white puss looking sores, go to the ER NOW. If your child is running a fever and is lethargic, go to the ER NOW. It is a matter of life or death or permanent heart, kidney damage to let this go untreated.

How old is the child? Sometimes with mono and antibiotics someone will get developed a rash.

It could also be measles or tickbite. See adoctor.

OP here , should have said we took him to the doc for,antibiotic but was more so asking for pain remedy

For the strep you need the antibiotics, and then to ease the pain, a nice honey lemon tea with cloves should ease the discomfort.
