Thats just it.
That guy probably thought he was going home at the end of the day.
Probably had all sorts of future plans made and wasnt thinking anything about dying and fate dealt him a different hand.

He probably didnt think he was in trouble until it was too late and he realized all of sudden that he was going to die.

Thats just exactly how it happens.
