In Season 1 of LOST we saw the plane crash survivors
being randomly kidnapped off the beach and killed.
Then

Charlie ending up being HUNG BY THE NECK and nearly
dieing. The graphic image of Charlie being hung just
seemed like a random item of drama in the episode...but

LOST MATCH...A NEW IDEA:
Never UNDER-ESTIMATE what is written into the LOST episode
scripts (due to remote-viewed FUTURE NEWS ITEMS.) I have
noticed this before...NOT obvious references to things the RV's
have captured (especially in 2018) and written into the
episode as a seemingly "meaningless" reference.
For "disappearing water" which MRMBB333 is reporting here
we could use the example in Season 1 Episode 2 or 3 where
one of the crash survivors decides to "take the remaining water"
(supposedly to be able to control the use by others who are
hoarding supplies.) Boone is the character who "pinches" the
water from the group, while this is only a part of the whole
water issue with the survivors that is on-going. Bottled water
is always showing up in the scenes as well--keeping WATER as
one of the elementals that carries through the entire 6 Seasons.

Thread: Geologists Find Part Of The Grand Canyon In Tasmania (I was unaware that the Grand Canyon had broken in 1/2...WOW!)
means that the cause of the Canyon is NOT the Colorado River
pushed by mainstream geologists...since it's "cousin" can
be found in an island 1,000s miles away in the Pacific. This
would also give geologists the ability to DATE THE CANYON
much more accurately.
LOST EPISODE
Charley, Hurley, Sayid, and Jack stumble across a
"canyon" in an early episode where they travel thru
the jungle to retrieve a battery for the raft. The
canyon location doesn't get much fan-fare in the episode
...just put there as an interesting remote-viewed tid-bit
that would be announced in the future. Don't underestimate
the MINOR DETAILS in "LOST" as they probably are lifted
from a current news item!
