FEMA is broke!!! Not good with erupting volcanos,hurricanes, floods, etc

No end of hard luck stories from those that build in flood plains or live in trailers in tornado alley.

Time to stop subsidizing stupidity.

Everyone wants to put in a nickle and withdraw a million bucks but the math says it isnt possible. The only possible outcome is a few will run off with the goods and leave everyone else holding the bill

If you REALLY want to fuck something up...get the government involved.

Because fema spent all it's money on coffins back in 2009.

I know congress was supposed to redo the fema flood insurance.
They were talking about big flood insurance increases.
Then I'm not sure what happened.
Apparently they don't know what the hell they are doing.

Never heard of FEMA before hurricane Katrina. Why? FEMA was never used for disaster relief. It is for continuity and survival of our dear leaders

I was re-zoned in 2009 and grandfathered in with my previous payment. Yes, congress voted and I am no longer grandfathered. I have received notice that my payments will gradually increase to the current rate. I purchased the house in 2005 with certain expectations. Congress can vote to change those expectations. Do you think that is fair?

It doesn't matter if you are in a flood zone or not, if your house floods, your insurance will not pay for it. All flood insurance is handled through FEMA.

Our hearts go out to those whose lives are touched by these disasters. Do you think FEMA should only cover those with insurance?

We need office of civil defense again. Its run at the municipality level. FEMA destroyed them over the 70s and 80s. Regan tried to reopen it before he got sickened...

My understanding is they are looking to make it more risk based.
What kind of flood zone do you live in?
I used to live in AE 8 on their maps.
Which means FEMA wanted our house raised up at least 10 feet off the ground to get flood insurance, 11 feet to get the best rate.

I dated a guy who worked for FEMA. He had retired from Dept. of Corrections as a prison guard.

This guy was an idiot. He made crazy money from FEMA. I was in total shock about how much they paid him.

Good. Give the money to the states, return all those coffins and shut down the camps.

Puerto Rico people do not pay taxes to the IRS, but they get welfare and aid from US taxpayers. They were sent billions of dollars and supplies and still bitch that our government didn't send them enough.
