Quoting: Anonymous Coward 5461667 More hunting would put this problem right in a year. yeah they don't eat you right away. After they drown a human, or a dog or deer, they stash the body under a log under water for a few days. Then they come back and feast. |

Dog was probably slowing down with age and the gator grabbed him. Government is a body largely ungoverned. |

Quoting: Coming Soon [link to www.sun-sentinel.com] Sad story. But this lady must not be from Florida. As someone who is, I learned at a young age to NEVER walk a dog around any freshwater pond or lake or creek. Gators will snatch your dog when it gets close to the shoreline. I'm not saying Gators snatch dogs every day, but it happens frequently across the state in the summer. The dog got the gators attention, and for some reason he dragged the lady in. Maybe the dog jumped out of the way and he grabbed what he could? What he said, especially at night. Stay away from areas where gators live at night. |

There are canals all along the area where I live. When I'm riding my bike, I always stop and look to see if I can see an alligator. I've spotted one or two in every canal. They are protected, and there are laws to keep them protected. Unless one has been aggressive, like the one that ate the woman, the parks rangers usually just tag them, and leave them where they are. |

They have really rebounded back to epic numbers and they are huge now. When I was a kid there really were not a lot of them around - now there are a LOT of them and they are huge. They need to be hunted. |
