That's probably because they're scared that they'll burn in hell for eternity if they kill themselves.
This type of brainwashing is NOT a good thing, even if it does decrease suicides. It makes God seem like an evil tyrant, when in reality He is a being of love and forgiveness and mercy.

You have no idea the freedom and power there is in faith in the Divine Creator. Well said! The reason why we don't commit suicide much is that we have peace and always God's help through Jesus. And, reconciliation is an invaluable sacrament!
