I too am a lifelong Texan with a few rental properties and even with three houses and my own I don't pay 12k a year in property taxes in northeast tarrant county.

The average statewide is 2% of appraised value and if you pay 12k that means you have a million dollar house, why are you complaining about some 200-300k tract home neighborhood?
