So I'm Trying This Bone-Broth Diet
Ok, no boner jokes.

Its really delicious. I boiled some beef bones with carrots, celery, garlic, onion salt and pepper for about 5 hours on low simmer. Strained everything out and have the broth. I've been substituting 2 meals a day with it. Have lost 7 lbs so far in 7 days.

You can use beef, chicken, fish, lamb, etc.

Anybody else tried this?

Why can't you just buy bouillon and call it a day?

Bouillon has been used by people dieting for a long time.

Re: So I'm Trying This Bone-Broth Diet
Here's a little more info:

Bone broth is the only true dietary source of type II collagen, which gives it a unique nutrient profile unlike that of any other food.

Bones and connective tissue are packed with the beneficial proteins collagen and gelatin, which are known for enhancing the appearance of skin. But a lesser known fact about collagen is that it also works on the digestive system by repairing the gut lining. This can help improve chronic digestive issues and autoimmune conditions that stem from leaky gut syndrome.

Collagen is also rich in the anti-inflammatory amino acids glucosamine, proline and glycine, which help ease joint pain, repair cartilage, and maintain lean muscle mass. If you’ve ever seen a thick layer of gel formed on top of refrigerated bone broth, that’s the collagen that has been released from the bones. (It’s also a sign of a highly nutritious broth!)

Bones are also storehouses for certain essential vitamins and minerals that we don’t get nearly enough of in our diets today — such as calcium and magnesium — which promote restful sleep and help reduce stress. (We could all use a little more of that, huh?)

Simmering bones and connective tissue into a broth for 10 to 16 hours enhances the digestibility of these powerful nutrients, and makes them incredibly easy for our body to digest, absorb, and assimilate. The easy digestibility of bone broth is why it’s one of the top recommended foods for those with weakened or compromised digestive systems, and others who may have trouble properly absorbing a nutritional supplement.

Re: So I'm Trying This Bone-Broth Diet
I'm making chicken next, probably tomorrow.

I make chicken soup quite often, but I'm going to leave out the noodles and things and just have the broth to keep the diet going.

Its also very satisfying.

Just wondering if anyone else has tried it. So far I am very pleased.

You're welcome!

I believe its the only diet I've tried that really satisfies my hunger.

The only thing I will do differently for my next batch is use a little less salt. You can keep a batch of broth in the refrigerator for 5 days (or freeze to last much longer). Just take a small amount out that you want to drink and warm it up. But after sitting it seems to taste a little saltier. So I'll use less salt next time and just add more to taste if needed after rewarming.

Yes, I've been doing it for a while, not so much for the weight loss, more for the health benefits and anti aging benefits.

I use a pressure cooker. I can't stand the smell of the same thing cooking for hours and hours.

You can do it much faster in a pressure cooker.

My hair has grown a lot, my skin looks better than it has in years. From what I understand it also helps with stomach issues.

Good stuff.

How do you make bone broth with a pressure cooker? I'd prefer to just eat the whole bone. Any tips?

If I just wanted to make soup, I would use the pressure cooker, but since the object was to get all the nutrition and goodness out of the bones, I believe the way is low and slow. (per alton Brown) Your choice.
