Anonymous Coward User ID: 67666175 ![]() 06/22/2018 04:03 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | You have done the math, I assume. That's about $2400 per month. Average rent for 1 bedroom in Mass is over $1100. That leaves about $300 per week for EVERYTHING else (food, transport, dentist, medical, school supplies, fun... You don't have to be a socialist to realize that the Walmart business model doesn't live up to the American dream (except for the Waltons)... You realize 2400 minus 1100 is 1300 leftover for everything else right? I didn't even need a calculator to check that You are a special kind of stupid |

Massachusetts near Boston and the coast are very expensive places to live and high income areas. Massachusetts out west towards Worcester-Springfield-Pittsfield-Adams are very low income areas and their city’s on that side of the state are nearly all black/Hispanic/crackhead super ultra poor falling apart. The towns on this side of the state are extremely depressed and backwoodsy where you can buy a single family house for $90,000 compared to a place like newton near Boston where a single family home is closer to $600,000-$800,000. I don’t see the state passing this but they are an extreme nanny state so who knows |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 74082338 ![]() 06/22/2018 04:19 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I could see Boston passing that law, but not the entire state. That would be untenable for the western part of the state which resembles something closer to West Virginia then the rich coastal side which won’t bat an eyelash at $15 minimum wage since that’s basically what it already is unless you are part of their slave illegal alien labor force aka every hotel in Boston. |

You do know that people who are not on welfare don't go to the dentist and doctor every week to get pills, right? They don't even do annual visits for the most part. Maybe the dentist every 6 to 9 months if they don't have insurance. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 63555311 ![]() 06/22/2018 07:52 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Nobody has factored in here..if you are making 15 an hour and you paying 30% in taxes you are only getting 10.5 and hour. So increasing the wages was a way for the state to collect more taxes, move people into another tax bracket and God help ya if you have state health insurance..your premiums will no longer be free you will be expected to contribute. I agree with others here..what about those already making 15 an hour..will they get more pay? It's all about taxes. If these people are on section 8 then they will be paying more to the state for their rent and if they were collecting foodstamps..oh boy..they will be losing some of that too. LOL.. Massachusetts is crazy. I live here and it's just plain nuts. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 75917972 Copy-n-paste this for California as well. |

Civilians who don't understand public policy and taxation are simpletons who can't do basic math. $15/hr doesn't even go far in a major Southern city so I know its peanuts for Mass. It would get you an $800 a month rental in a city like Atlanta...which is right in the ghetto/barrio. |
