This is one thing that I consider rather cool. Thanks indeed for the link, which I will book mark and click on, at least occasionally, so often as I recall it.

It's a good thing to aid strays, IMO, and best of all, this is so easy ... and free to boot.

Anyway, this thread is one of the reasons I come to GLP. The majority of threads here are, IMO, utter crap. But, there are usually little gems to be found, of which this thread is one.

awesome thread PV and i feed seven cats at work twice a day, seven more down the street (they live in the parking lot) and another couple here at the condo and i have three inside with me.

they are Gods creatures and they don't have anybody except me.

Well, good for you. Myself, during the worst winter months, I spread a coffee can's worth of dog food out on the cul de sac where I live. The Ravens and Magpies seem to love it. Certainly, it doesn't last long.

Tough winters up here sometimes, and this last was the worst in 20 or 30 years.

Well, we can't help everybody or everything, but we CAN help somebody!

As for the poster thinking GLPers to be smarter than this ... apparently not. At least, not me.

and my stray friends are lucky cause we are here in so fl. and i wish they would let me touch them i could put the flea stuff on their necks but they are feral and are nervous but they come a runnin when they see me comin'

Yeah; makes you feel good, doesn't it? Now, when ever I walk out the door, there are always several Ravens hanging around. And they recognize me. Once I'm outside, they gather in hopes I'll feed them again.

However, the harsh winter is over, and I feel they should maintain their wilderness survival skills, and not become too dependent on me. Thus, with the warmer weather, I've stopped feeding them.

Also, dog food is expensive out here.

But, once the snow flies and food becomes harder to get, it's back to spending money on birds. Birds who would be happy to eat my dead body; I don't mind.

They almost - not quite - trust me. I've been able to walk to within five feet of a few, but that seems to be the limit. Grateful for the food as they seem to be, Ravens are too smart to take unnecessary chances.

Still, it makes me feel as if I'm doing something worth while.

Can't help everybody. Can help somebody.
