Maduro warns Venezuela army over Trump 'invasion' plans
President Nicolas Maduro urged his armed forces Wednesday to be on guard following reports that nearly a year ago Donald Trump, the US president, raised the possibility of invading Venezuela.

"You cannot lower you guard for even a second, because we will defend the greatest right our homeland has had in all of its history," Mr Maduro said at a military ceremony, "which is to live in peace."

You would think, looking at that country, would sway people away from wanting that kind of leader ship but then you hear all these people out there that are literally pushing for it because all they hear is the word “free”

I am not a fan of socialism , but Venezuela situation is NOT from socialism , it’s from a steady coordinated economic assault by the USA .
The multinational oil companies want their hands on Venezuela oil, but Venezuelan has decided the oil is the people’s, that’s why gas is damn near free there, less then 1/10 of a penny per gallon.
I have lived there before for years, and they may actually have more capitalism then the USA. Mom and pop shop everywhere , they dominate the landscape, street food right out of your front yard everywhere without gov regulations . Just try that here in the states and see what happens .

I’m not sayin their gov Is not corrupt like all gov seem to be . But they would be in much better shape with Us interference.

Exactly. The whole thing was just a stunt on the part of Chavez to stick a finger in Bush's eye, and I can't imagine the actually poor people of Venezuela much appreciated that their dear leader was subsidizing "poor" people in Massachusetts.

...although I'm surprised we're not arming any resistance groups in response to the undocumented immigration crises.

Clearly, by any measurement of success, socialism has failed the people...only the government and its strong armed enforcers eat steadily.

And that's just a basic need that many here take for granted.

When we don’t have the power to chose a countries leader, we simply strangle the country until they give in.
That’s what’s happening here.
Come one we even kidnapped Chavez at one time took h8, to a remote island where we were going to kill him. The Venezuelans came out of the mountains in the millions demanding he be returned , they said any US puppet we put in they would storm the palace and rip his veins out of his neck.
We kidnapped a leader because he was not going along with the oil companies , how much more info I said needed?

By the way, a flight from Miami to aruba was about 300 to 400 bucks round trip, but to right next door Caracas was over a grand, it’s the same distance . That’s one way the USA would try to keep people from spending there money there. It’s just one example .

true.

Take the context and timing of this headline.

Should read: Years ago, when Trump was in the deal of Saudi buying the US' largest refinery in Port Arthur, Trump threw in a sales pitch that Venezuela was only a few miles away and the country was falling to poor government and lack of management and would be easy to invade and take their oil, tons of oil. huge. Essentially that would rescue Venezuela and give their government an opportunity to build back their country... OR something like that.

NOW things have totally changed as KSA is turning that US deal into enemy combatant terms to boost their appeal while they continue to wage war and genocide.

We assume that media stories are current and just came out as a result of actions in the past 24 hours. that isn't how it works. that isn't how any of this works.

Simple Question: How many bolivars does it take to buy a penny's worth of gas these days?

1148...

Here's the problem I have with the whole theory about Venezuelan oil.

If American companies had not set Venezuela up to find oil and refine it that oil would still be in the ground and Venezuela would be even poorer still.

Without Venezuelan oil the Allies would have lost WWII, and the Axis would have conquered Asia, Africa and Europe
