Here are two reasons:

1. People don't want to be responsible for their own bad decisions (so they reject or compartmentalize the truth)


2. People want to be able to do the wrong thing (to trespass against others) and they can only continue if they are not exposed.


Not wanting to take responsibility comes from immaturity in the former, and from mental/spiritual defect in the latter.



Back in 2009, I was talking to co-workers about Dec 21 2012 on the Mayan calendar and what it might mean. We talked about paradigm shifts, the veil lifting, etc.

I said that I would like it if lying was no longer possible; because with the veil lifted all lies would be immediately visible. "Wouldn't that be great" I asked enthusiastically.

My co-workers rolled their eyes at me, looked at each other, and said "uh..... no".

I think people in the workplace fear for their security and want to be able to throw other people under the bus.... instead of being responsible for themselves.


A few years ago, my mom was dating an obvious con-man, and when I was pointing out the things he did and said; my mom literally put her fingers in her ears and started yelling at me.

The guy fed her ego and that is all she cared about. She liked being seen with what she thought was a good looking man, even though he brought chaos and a drained bank account to her life. So she lies to herself constantly. I don't get it but I think she is fractured inside and holding the façade together is easier for her then to make adjustment to accommodate the truth.

It also shows someone who is ego-oriented (superficial).

One definition of superficial is "appearing to be true until examined more closely".

We live in a world where image is everything and reality is shunned; but reality is only ugly when it is not examined (going within) and dealt with.

9 years old in the playground, talking to my friends. They were all talking about a certain boy and how much they hated him. I asked them why they said they hated him when they really all had a crush on him? I was genuinely curious but they did not indulge me with an answer.

I noticed the same attitude in adolescent boys. The girls who aroused their newfound feelings were often the subject of attacks.

Both sides not wanting to acknowledge what was inside them. Not wanting to deal with it. So they turn it on its head to make it through the day.


Anyhoo........

I wish everyone would grow up enough to deal with the truth. I do think we need to put our ego aside to do that. And also our fears....

BUT there will always be psychopaths who delight in lies.

Because no one fears a god anymore.

Lying is an autocatalytic process. The lies grow out of control no matter how smart you think you are. I've lived the lie for about 12 years. I'm above way average intelligence and thought I could hack it.

Wrong. Sooner than you can imagine, the web of lies has gotten too complex to handle and the lies start to live a life of their own. You also see that coming clean is no longer an option. Too many people trusting in you. Too many commitments based on lies. I think it happened after the first two years of lies, or maybe that was when I realized that I was no longer in control.

It takes a demon to master the lies. Or maybe there is a mathematical way to map your lies and make them manageable. I don't know. I know that you can't just wing it, or make shit up as you go. The only rule I've found to work is: stick as closely to the truth as you can.

addicts want to be able to feed their addiction unobstructed, so they lie to get their fix.
they only love their addiction and not their spouse or family. they wish to be enabled... so they manipulate and lie.

Because manipulating people is more important than God.

I can understand lying to escape a consequence or for some sort of personal gain. What's less understandable is people who lie for no obvious reason. Everybody knows one.

Because they're hypocrites who have no concience and will say anything necessary to get away with their ulterior aims. The world's in this state bc of them.

Short-term gains (material or relationships). Ego-boost. Social status boost. Habit. Lots of reasons.
