Re: The Bible
Ask The Holy Spirit to guide you and show you the meaning of Scripture. Read the 66 books start to finish (Genesis-Revelation) and seek the guidance of The Holy Spirit. No scripture is of private interpretation, only The Holy Spirit can interpret scripture. If you're reading the catholic version, keep in mind 2 maccabees is a false book. The other extra 6 are truly scripture, but the translations in the catholic versions aren't perfect, nor are the catholic translations of the other 66 books perfect. The kjv isn't a perfect translation either, but better than the niv, nlt, etc. You can still glean a pretty much accurate picture of the commandments and of the various 'biblical' events that happened by reading the kjv. Kjv has mistranslations when it comes to some words though, and it leaves over 150 books out. Original scriptures were over 200 books ...

Because of the very nature OF duality, one must accept as factual duality's transient presence in order to truly comprehend its objective non-existence

For the average reader, it takes. about 72 hours to read the bible from cover to cover.

Thats laughably misleading and misguided.
 Quoting: MrIol

Perhaps you are not an average reader. Of course 72 hours broken into several sessions takes much more time.

Re: The Bible
I'd like to hear your advice on how to approach reading it from cover to cover, free of the personal biased interpretation I have on it right now... (Growing up Catholic and having it essentially dissected and read for me). By reading it by myself and for myself, I hope to gain a much more sincere, original, unbiased and truer perspective/connection to it and what it means in my life.
Thanks

I'm Catholic, but growing up and attending convent school we were not actively encouraged to read the bible in its entirety

I read a childrens Bible first when I was about 11

I then read a King James Bible from start to finish

Reading the Bible can be a very private endeavor and nobody can tell you what you SHOULD get from reading it

I must say that I have read many religious text (I read the English version of the Quran at a young age because I cannot speak fluent arabic)

The Bible is something I always come back to as a blue print for Creation itself

Re: The Bible
To elaborate, this is how a christian or someone who has actually read/reads the bible would speak on the topic.

"How many times have you read the bible?"

"lol! no clue. Have read Matthew,Mark,Luke and John probably a few hundred times overall. Revelation 30 or 40 times. Genesis 20 or 30 times. Exodus about the same. The epistles 20 or something.
Psalms and Proverbs on and off so many times who can count."

"Yeah but how many times have you actually read the whole thing?"

"no clue"

Thats how that question would be answered.

Never "I have read the bible 3 times!"

Massive red flag and certainly just a liar lying.
 Quoting: MrIol

That’s not always true...if you have ever been in a stretch of time, don’t always assume you know everything..you don’t. Forward at least twice as a book and backwards once..yes every word of the King James backwards...

Re: The Bible
It is very difficult to read the bible without bias, from the very begining theres a question as to why god talks to himself as in "let us make man in our image" this is because the original text didn't say god, it said elohim which is a plural for eloah, without even going there if you're getting into the story for real you have to ask yourself why doesn't the adam die after eating the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, elohim actually confirms what the serpent said would happen his eyes were open and he was able to see as one of them, check scripture see if I'm wrong....still talking plural here,we have to ask ourselves also it says that adam knew his wife in the garden, there was no house so he was taking her right there in front of all these elohim, how did adam know he was naked? who had on clothes for him to have a basis of this knowledge? the elohim were clothed, now lets go to the expulsion, modern xtians would have us believe that adam was expelled due to disobedience, but no where in the text does it say this, what it does say is that. Adam had to be expelled because " he took it upon himself to eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil and if he eats of the tree of life he will be elohim as one of us, go check it see if thats what it says...you can't take the bible the way it is from cover to cover, it wasn't composed that way, first there was the pentatech, the first 5 books, then later when the hebrews go into captivty they add the minor and major prophets, they, compose the torah and simultaneously they create the written talmud which were oral teachings prior to their captivity...The translations are important as well, you have the septuagint thats where it goes from ancient extinct hebrew to greek then you have the masoretic which transltes to modern hebrew, you cant just read it you have to study it VS real world history as well, the rabbit hole is deep bro good luck

Re: The Bible
Theres much more just at the begining, it says adam heard the sound of gods footsteps while he was hiding, thats physical, then the god goes on to ask adam where are you? omniscient? heh, then when he finds out he asks again, who told you you were naked or did you eat of the tree that i told not to eat of? omniscient? NOT!! so many questions if you read without bias, then you get to the tower of babel and again we get that plural "let US go down and confuse mans language and spread hin out" see? without the bias of monoeitheism its very different, in fact chemosh is mentioned as another god in there and the early hebrews nelieved in monolotry a lot of them worshipped ASHERAH, you can't make this stuff up, anyway man its a real long ride you may want to rethink this, you also have your apochrypha like the book of enoch , the first and second book of adam the apochryphon of john, the book of judas, and the extra cannonical books which were removed but those are easy, and a ton more. but if you're really studying you have to study all the sumerian and akkadian stuff also the canaanite pre judaic religions, its a lot of fun...Took me something like 12 years to get where I am and I'm not telling you the half of it , I'm just guiding your begining. have fun man!!

In todays many chat rooms and forums you will encounter many varying styles of communication, no one is going to change their style to comfort you.

You must adapt, you have very questionable contemporary secular written and oral hermaneutics.
I suggest you read more books, this will help you

your gonna troll us? lol, I don't have a "gonna troll us" why don't you point out something about what I said as opposed to making this about grammar and punctuation?

Don't argue with a fool, mrlol
Many years you bore with them and warned them by your Spirit through your prophets. Yet they would not give ear. Therefore you gave them into the hand of the peoples of the lands. You gave your good Spirit to instruct them and did not withhold your manna from their mouth and gave them water for their thirst. Nevertheless, they were disobedient and rebelled against you and cast your law behind their back and killed your prophets, who had warned them in order to turn them back to you, and they committed great blasphemies.

Thanks

First do not read the "King James" version it has been altered to obfuscate the truth!
Read the Douay version.
Then realize that some of it is Spiritual metaphor and some is historic fact.
Genesis chapter 1 is Spiritual metaphor ,it has nothing to do with the creation of the material universe it has to do with the creation of the INNER MAN !The firmament of matter is the juxtaposition of the inner parts of ourselves. Our Spirit,The Father's Spirit(a pre personal fragment of The Father, our conscience)our Ego (the adversary) and our Soul(in a seed state) ,it is up to the individual to perceive where it is metaphor or historic facts.
