I'm wondering why everyone seems to think it's cool to struggle with money?

I'm flat broke but I'd never describe myself as struggling or on struggle street.
 Quoting: NowIhavetothinkofaname

And btw
AINT NOTHING COOL ABOUT IT
 Quoting: Ohio chic

Then why do people seem to think struggling makes them noble or good?

I think struggling to pay your bills indicates a degree of financial illiteracy. I'm not having fun at your expense but maybe you need help setting a budget? I'd be happy to help you with budgeting.
 Quoting: NowIhavetothinkofaname

Hey you heartless judging person

I HAD A STROKE THAT HAS LEFT ME UNABLE TO WORK.....
GET IT NOW ?!?!?

Ha. There it is.

Now everyone is heartless who disagrees with YOUR passing of judgement. Classic.

She also has many other yachts. She is a stooge for for profit schools. Horrible pick to run education.
 Quoting: LiteaFart

Why is for profit bad with education?

With for profit you get school choice and a degree of urgency to do a good job with your education in order to attract more students, something public education doesnt need to contend with, and frankly, the results are speaking for themselves.

Why a $40 million yacht on Lake Erie? Yuck! The big lakes I can see but not Erie.
 Quoting: FlashBuzzkill

The yacht is often in Florida or Caribbean, it may have been in for servicing or setting up for a cruise or coming back from one.

I think it’s main home port /register out of the Cayman Islands

It’s in Harbor Springs, Mi now.

Lmao...

Even though it would be an insurance claim it's still funny.

I still think the Devos nomination was highly questionable and, as far as her as a person, she's definitely one of those elites who would probably just as soon watch school children get hunted down on a private elite island than to actually take the time to restructure our education system.

Why do you jealous assholes care? Every fucking one of you that is complaining would have married into money if you had a chance. And would have ended up being even bigger pieces of shit. In my world, the assholes which do this kind of shit need to have the same thing happen to them where they end up losing the little bit of shit that hey have.

WRONG!

I live paycheck to paycheck simply because I won't step on others to reach the top of the ladder and that's how it always seems to turn out for the rich who "earned" their money. If you inherited it, good for you, you didn't step on anyone in the process, but someone before you did!

I wasn't going to post in this thread, but all of the comments re. "They earned it, what's your problem" directed at the OP pissed me off.

For those of you who so high in your ivory towers that you can't even see the little people anymore, fuck you.

The distribution of wealth in the world is so screwed up at the moment it's crazy.

I'm sitting back and simply waiting, no aristocracy ever survived a million pitch-forks and torches, and that's what's coming. I honestly hope it comes in my lifetime, I will enjoy the show BIG TIME!

Watch the movie "Elysium", that is our future!!

To the OP, I am sorry you've had to endure all of the narrow minded pettiness spewed forth by those who think they are above it all.

08 -09 Recession
The only new construction of any significance in GR was from Devos and VanAndel money, Amway money if you will. That work kept my house payments paid, my children fed.

Craftsmen that I work with are the type of people that built that 40 million dollar Yacht. Why do you think it cost so much? Skilled people doing the jobs of creating it, supplying materials and labor that paid to buy their homes, feed their families.

Those "Rich" families have been a marvelous blessing in this community, and we are thankful to have them.

I recall reading a lot of people in his fantastic administration were in arrears to the IRS.

I remember reading about his first Secretary of the Treasury being dinged by the IRS for doing a tricky maneuver involving the taxes of his housekeeper.

At least one of America's greatest presidencies never weaponized the IRS. Along with other agencies.

Oh, wait.

Thanks, liberals!

It's worse than that.

The entire system revolves around lots of little things intended to allow the rich to get richer and the poor to become poorer, hence the growing disparity between the haves and the have-nots.

This article is a great read if you're willing to consider that maybe the rich aren't as deserving or haven't "earned it" nearly as much as they might like to self-justify...

By at least realizing the road to hell is paved with good (or "good") intentions.

The public-education industry has been run by liberals, and has been full of idiotic liberalism, for decades.

That applies double or triple when it comes to schools in very blue-blue urban America.

No wonder our public schools are so wonderful!

I'll agree that any society where honesty, logic and integrity aren't valued enough or at all is prone to ending up like a Mexico, Brazil, Venezuela, PRC China, EU-fied Europe, etc.

I'll agree that any society where too many people look at a Bill and Hillary, and a Barack high fiving in the background, and think, how nice---their compassion and generosity give me goose bumps!, is not a nation that places honesty, logic and ethics about anything else.

Some of the wealthiest people in both the public and private sectors - government and corporations - have all the honesty and ethics of the prototypical "Limousine Liberal." Even worse, quite a few of them have the honesty and ethics of a "Champagne Socialist."

Hey, there's George Soros right over there!

Of course you must be assuming that this woman has never had a job anywhere else, and the boat was acquired during her employment as US Secretary of Education using income specifically from her job. Would it make a better impression to you if she was deeply in debt?

Certainly if they're virtue-signaling liberals who love to think of their ideology as somehow absolving all sins, all shame, all guilt. As excusing a "I feel your pain" that conceals a "we came, we saw, he died." Then allows a lot of laughter.

Caution is advisable if she is similar to all the doctors and Big Pharma companies throughout America who supposedly - supposedly - are there to help you while recommending you take a lot of costly, ineffective, even harmful drugs.

DeVos's degree and background in the private sector, however, don't answer how sensible, logical, honest and ethical she is or isn't.

After all, look at the millions of doctors and big-drug companies who most people assume know what the hell they're doing. Yea, we know we can trust them to do the right thing.
