Desktop Pop Up ads - Cleaned up all Malware, Spyware, or Adware, still happening
Hey, when I start up my computer even before I launch a browser, I get this pop up ads. It's not GLP! It happens before, during, and after a browser window is open.

I ran scans for viruses, trojans (heh : D ) and other assorted Malware, Spyware, and Adware. I cleaned some stuff up but it's still happening.

What could it be?

Which version of Windows do you have?

Which anti virus and malware scanners have you ran so far?

Does it happen if you boot up in safe mode?

What cleaners are you using?
Have you tried Malware Bytes?

I have Windows 7 64.I haven't checked safe mode yet. I ran Avast, Malware Bytes, Spybot, and HitmanPro. I'm about to try Adware.

Have you had a look at your startup items, in case it is one of them?

Also go into add and remove programs and see what was installed since the problem started. there is an option to sort by date.
See if there is any software you don't recognise.

Is it possible it has anything to do with an outdated JavaScript? Just, when I cleaned up my programs, updated and upgraded, it seemed to do the trick for me... I definitely think it was something to do with my JavaScript. ..

No strange programs there. I'm updating Javascript : )

Adware is getting the newest definitions, and I'm gonna run it as soon as the definitions are updated.

If I was you I would be trying some better antivirus software.

Try googling for Symantec Endpoint Protection 14.
You may find a link the the download page on the Symantec website.

What I can't figure is why none of the programs detected it. I scanned using a bunch of programs.

I paid for Avast Premium, too.

malwarebytes in safe mode

windows defender

clear out all browser caches including everything in settings/advanced (exceptions and stuff) if using chrome

delete all java cache stuff

run ccleaner if you have it

from admin command prompt run: sfc/ scannow

from admin command prompt run (with internet on): dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

Correction:

Checking for Rootkits now.

It may not be a Rootkit. I updated JavaScript, and so far, nothing

Well, spybot is crap. Use Malwarebytes, and Ccleaner, for malware. For antivirus you get what you pay for. Free antivirus stuff like Avast, and others don't do for free, what there " for sale " stuff does. That's just bad buisness silly. Pay for your anti virus software. I suggest Webroot.
As far as an existing infection, run Norton's Power Eraser. It's a stand alone free software. Which is good as Norton software on a whole is much like Mcaffe stuff. A real resource hog. But Norton's Power eraser restarts the OS and does one of,if not the best scan on the market. Just be carefull with the results. With great power, comes great responceability! A tip from your uncle Jimmy.

Except I did pay for Avast.

It many not be a Rootkit though. I updated JavaScript and so far no pop ups.

If it is a Rootkit, then paying for an antivirus didn't help. Why pay for something that doesn't stop an infection?

Nope! More popups...this is why I said I'm not going to pay again for an Antivirus and Firewall. Paying for a product, that's supposed to stop infections, didn't stop an infection.

Avast is at the top and that's what I paid for, and am using. But I still got infected. Avast comes with a built in firewall. As well as different shields. The Firewall, The File Shield, The Web Shield, The Behavior Shield, and the Mail shield are all on.

No worries.
The business antivirus is always much better than the home versions.

Have a look for Symantec again,
since using it, I haven't had any problems.

BTW never run more than 1 anti virus software at once because they will interfere with one another.

If you can help it, don’t pay for something with a credit card on a machine that you think is infected. I’ve seen bad things come of that.
