Meaning "anointed" in Old Hebrew tradition to literally anoint the head with oil. Oftentimes sheep would get tangled in briers or flies would lay eggs in the ears and noses of the sheep and would drive them to beat their heads against something resulting in death in some cases...

Anointing the sheep's head with oil gave a additional layer of protection against harmful elements or parasites which would harm or kill if allowed. So oil was used.

This also means to "consecrate" to God, which has a symbolic meaning. Consecrate can mean to do and ordain, declare, make, sanctify, bless, make holy, make sacred, etc...

You can CHOOSE to do these by walking the Narrow Path like Jesus Christ, but what I find so remarkable, is that it's all a choice. Freely given and with no forcing one to either do or die...

In this case, EVERYTHING is relative and I mean that both symbolically and literally...
