RE: the missing Iowa girl.....

The father of 20-year-old Mollie Tibbetts, who vanished nearly three weeks ago, speculated Monday in an interview with Fox News that his daughter was caught in "some kind of misunderstanding" with someone she knows.

"My two cents is that no one went into that house to hurt her," Rob Tibbetts told the television station, adding he believes she "left willingly with someone she knows."

Calling it "totally speculation on my part," he told the station he thought there was "some kind of a misunderstanding about the nature" of the relationship between the two.

"And at this point, they don't know how to get out from under this," he said.

Rob Tibbetts said that as the search for Mollie continues, it's also important to give that individual "the freedom and the space to process this, and to get themselves out of this amount of trouble because they get into a deeper amount of trouble."

His daughter's kindness, compassion and outgoing personality may have simply given someone the wrong idea, he continued.

Mollie was suppose to go home for dinner with mom after jog.
So why didn't mom go check up on her that night?

Mom talked about her in past tense.
Dad didn't.

Exactly why are they offering a huge financial award so long after she went missing? Something doesn't make sense here. Would Mom be a realist, while Dad is overly optimistic? There must be a lot of info we don't know about yet.

Does Dad think Molly had a friend who isn't rational, and believed if he took her away she would stay with him for some unknown reason?

Something is up with this.

It sure sounds like her dad knows something or someone who was interested in her.

In my other post the dad uses the word “they” in this sentence, “And at this point, they don't know how to get out from under this," he said.

It’s as if he’s saying his daughter possibly wanted to go with this person and now that she is missing and all over the news “they” are scared to come back.

The dad and the brother also made some really strange comments in one interview, they said when Mollie comes back they joked about making her watch all the pressers and take down all her missing person flyers, they even chuckled.

Sorry but if my daughter was kidnapped and held for weeks by a stranger I would never want her to relive the horror by doing what they suggested.

Now if she was with someone she knows on some “get away” that would make sense for them to joke about.


ETA....In one article the dad was even coaching the person to listen to Mollie, she would get them out of this.

Oh gawd, she joined ISIS. I knew it. They have been kidnapping young women in the Midwest to put in US ISIS camps. They lure them in, she was a daycare worker with skills.
Just like the Somali pirates ask for ransom. But more importantly this indicates that human trafficking like in Sweden is starting to happen in US. eek.

I know it's a stretch. But that's my theory for now.

Maybe they are just clinging to the hope she wasn’t abducted by a killer?

If this was my daughter ... I would alternate between crying and looking for revenge.

Maybe she has cheated on the boyfriend in the past ... and they are clinging to the potential running off with a man?

We will know when she comes back or is found dead.

I can't imagine the family's peace when these cases get national attention. You know, we all have our family issues and skeletons and when they are all presented to the public and everyone knows our business it gets weird.

A Law Enforcement Perspective
I've been in Law Enforcement for nearly a decade. I spent 7 years as a big city police officer, and now work for my state as a Probation and Parole officer assigned to the Specialized Caseloads Division (supervising sex offenders).

I'm sure the FBI is actively looking into every sex offender within a 100 mile radius. Every violent sex offender in the area should be at the top of the suspect list. A quick public search of the Iowa Sex Offender Registry lists several violent offenders in and around Brooklyn.

From experience, these guys never truly cease their deviant behavior and thoughts. In my state, they undergo yearly polygraphs and psycho-sexual exams (their answers will haunt you).

The ones thought to be lying or deceiving the exams will be administered a penile plethysmograph. Essentially, they are shown a series of photographs and a machine monitors their arousal levels...it let's their case officers know what their risks and triggers are (men, women, kids, elderly, etc).

I would be shocked if an offender in that area isn't responsible for this. Authorities need to hone in aggressively on these guys. They've all forfeited their 4th Amendment rights, so warrantless searches can be conducted, and they NEED to be conducted ASAP.

If it's not a registered offender who's responsible (and usually they are, Google cases like this) then I would suspect an acquaintance of the missing. Someone who knew she was house sitting alone.

That would explain the lack of forced entry or a noticeable disturbance on the scene...dust every inch of that house for latent prints and cross check everyone who's prints are on the scene. Lack of prints would indicate someone sterilized the scene (big red flag).

Prints that belong to anyone other than the residents of the house, even if they are friends or family who frequent the house, should have a warrant executed on their residence and vehicle...local and federal authorities need to move much faster than it appears they are currently moving.

Grid searches with volunteers is only going to do so much. The community is small enough to develop a solid suspect list and to start executing warrants at a lightening fast pace.

My fear is that local authorities are too inexperienced to assist the handful of feds allocated to the investigation...they should already have a warrant for the cell provider to see what cell tower her phone last pinged to. Same with the fitbit.

two points.

We assume that someone approached her. Maybe she called/texted/contacted someone while she had the alone time.

and there's only so much that law enforcement can do. Someone knows something.

now it's a waiting game.

If she communicated with anyone by phone they would know.

At this point my money is on the boyfriend.

i posted something, but I don't think it's reliable.

I read the whole thing ... tried messaging them.

I suspect there are Facebook pages set up to see who reads them ... if they think Ie is with someone she knows - maybe they are reading the news about her etc.

No killer was ever found in regards to the case about the 2 girls. Damn I can't believe that it has been 6 years since that happened.

They need to take a close look at younger brother she shares a vehicle with. Not a huge deal but his Facebook has zero pictures mention of his sister. Not even after going missing.

Her eye glasses, contacts, wallet left behind but phone was taken. This to me seems like someone took it to cover up calls or texts. This is an elementary understanding of LE ability to access records.


She was supposed to use the car and he said she didn't call. Not huge, but if I was supposed to give a ride or share a car I would have gone to the house. He blew it off
