The Pope should have recused himself, and passed this responsibility to someone in the Vatican who has not (yet) been accused of Mass child rape, and child trafficking, which together warrant a Death Penalty sentence.

 Quoting: Hamlet's Mill

They did that.

The responsibility made it back around to the pope.

Quote:

"The Bible talks about providing sanctuary cities where murderers and criminals can flee to for safety, too".

Think you'll find that the cities of refuge were for manslaughter - accidential killing.
The purpose was protection from those seeking revenge for the victim's life.

These cities were not to protect intentional murderers or criminals from the law.

Many years you bore with them and warned them by your Spirit through your prophets. Yet they would not give ear. Therefore you gave them into the hand of the peoples of the lands. You gave your good Spirit to instruct them and did not withhold your manna from their mouth and gave them water for their thirst. Nevertheless, they were disobedient and rebelled against you and cast your law behind their back and killed your prophets, who had warned them in order to turn them back to you, and they committed great blasphemies.

In 2016, Cardinal Burke correctly pointed out that a Pope who commits the sin/crime of heresy is no longer Pope.

Cardinal Burke: If a Pope would formally profess heresy he would cease, by that act, to be the Pope. It’s automatic. And so, that could happen.

It depends if there is enough pushback on the issue.

He whitewashed over the gay issue with very little pushing.

The issue of papal heresy was covered in the First Vatican Council in the 19th century.

The question was also raised by a Cardinal, "What is to be done with the Pope if he becomes a heretic?" It was answered that there has never been such a case; the Council of Bishops could depose him for heresy, for from the moment he becomes a heretic he is not the head or even a member of the Church. The Church would not be, for a moment, obliged to listen to him when he begins to teach a doctrine the Church knows to be a false doctrine, and he would cease to be Pope, being deposed by God Himself.

If he denies any dogma of the Church held by every true believer, he is no more Pope than either you or I;...
