It may be irritation in the stomach lining...that's what happened to my dog..he got bloated and was sick a lot due to the stomach irritation... the vet might pick this up with a scan, or maybe they need the camera down there to check...

This is the only way they picked his stomach irritation up though, so it might be worth an ask...it is very pricey though... I hope your cat gets the right diagnosis and is well again soon
