Does anybody know about dowsing?
So i'm watching a show the other day about dowsing and they are explaining how it used to find water, among other thing.

So I fill a glass with water and sit on the coffee table and then I go and get a pair of dowsing rods that I've had for years, but never used.

I didn't think it would actually work, but every time I walked over the glass of water, they would cross over it.

I was pretty amazed, but have no idea how this works.

I am curious to what other things dowsing could be used for.

Who has experience?

It works. I hired a professional dowser to decide where to drill a water well. He walked around with his rods pointed to the place and said "drill over there". He was within 20 feet of depth and the gpm came in exactly as he predicted. I'd hire him again in a heartbeat.

Ask Jed Clampett. Oh, that's right, he's dead. Maybe a surviving friend of him or Ellie Mae?

I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't see it with my own eyes. There is a mysterious force at work there and somehow the dowsing rods are able to tap into that.

I've read that people actually dowse for Gold too. I'd like to give that a try.

I can take heavy gage copper wire bent into L shape, hold loosely and they will rotate when I pass over electrical or water lines. Wells I haven't tried.

I have never heard it called dowsing, but instead, divining rods. I don't have any actual experience with the experience, but have always heard it works.

I have never tried it...but from what I've read, you can dowse for anything.

You just concentrate on what you're looking for as you walk around with the rods in your hands.

Supposedly it works with the power of your mind and the power of the earth (with the rods being the go-between).

Some call it water witching. It's not witchcraft though.

I did it with a fruit tree branch, pulled so hard on me it burned up my hands when stick moved.

Yep, we use pinflags (with the flag torn off) bent into an L to find pvc water lines every day
Works on electric and pipelines also.
But always look up, you pick up overhead power lines too

Re: Does anybody know about dowsing?
I just take a pair of old school wire hangers, cut them with side cutters and then bend into "L" shape. Loosely hold the "L"'s in my hand (hold short part) and I can easily find water. I use it to locate buried irrigation lines and I've used to to locate multiple wells.

It works. Its repeatable. You can walk past the water and the long part of the "L"s will go from crossing to reverse and point back to where the water is. You turn around and the "L"s turn with you to point to the water. You walk back towards the water and the "L"s will cross at the same place. You can approach the water from different directions with exacting results.

I found out I can do it, I was with a bunch of people trying and I did pretty good.

At the time we were trying to figure out how it works as no one knew. I believe some people's electric fields are able to do it based on science that is maybe not known at this time.

always found the subject fascinating.

If I had a bigger yard I would definitely have a well and likely have used someone like this to find where to dig.

It is idiomatic. There is a guy on the internet offering 1 million $$$ who can proof positive show that it works every single time, for water, oil, gold, lost objects, etc. No one has collected...

I believe it is also called water witching. It's fairly common to hire someone with this skill when you want to try to find water on an off-grid property.

it will never be 100%

never seen anyone try this for Gold...or lost items......i have only seen it used for water.......typically when someone needs to drill a well.

it will almost alway be close enough to drill.

but today we have much better science and equipment.....things that can see in what is under the surface......

this will usually be closer to 100%....and take ones shaking hands out of the equation

but maybe back in the 1600 magnets were seen as witchcraft too.

but I digress.. Be very careful of your next choices as to trying to do it I would advise against it... unless deep and even deeper rabit holes are your thing

Re: Does anybody know about dowsing?
The problem i can see when used for gold...is most gold is in tiny amounts in the earth.

You need to sleuce many tons of dirt to get one ounce of gold.

If dowsing rods picked up tiny amounts of water like that, they would be crossing at every step you took.
If I am going to be damned...I am going to be damned for who I really am!
