But he described the burqa as "ridiculous" and "weird" and said women wearing them looked like letter-boxes or bank robbers. Prime Minister Theresa May has backed calls for him to apologise for his comments which she said "clearly caused offence". During the Sky interview, Burley said to Mr Bridgen: "OK, I’ll have to ask you that again: you feel uncomfortable having a conversation with a woman, who is wearing a burqa?" Mr Bridgen said: "With anyone with their face covered, yes, I do, if they were wearing a mask or a crash helmet, with the visor down, it’s very difficult to get that empathy and that behavioural feedback of whether they approve or disapprove, of what I’m saying, or how I’m saying it. It’s very difficult." She asked him: "So what about someone like Simon Weston, who can’t necessarily show his facial expressions, given what happened to him at the Falklands, when he was so hideously burned? Does that offend you?" [link to www.walesonline.co.uk (secure)] I also watched this earlier and gonna leave it here My new book about Hostages will be released next week! |
