Duke Energy Allowing Customers to Opt Out of Smart Metering With a Catch...
Duke Energy has made it known that their customers can now opt out of having a smart meter attached to their house. This choice has been around for a few years, but I just found out about the availability of this option in Florida.

The catch is a user has to pay an upfront fee and an extra amount every month for the analog meter to be used in place of the smart meter, for those of you who don't want to read.

This is weird! This link says Florida is moving to a smart grid but I already have a wireless meter installed on my house.

I would have to pay $96 down and $15 extra per month just to have an analog meter on my house. I think it's nice of Duke to make that option available to their forced customers.
