NOLAangel User ID: 75938423 United States 08/08/2018 05:50 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Anyone can get scarlet fever, but it's most common in kids from 5 to 15 years old. The infection is often passed between classmates at school or family members who are in close contact with each other. It's most often spread by contact with the droplets emitted when an infected person coughs or sneezes. It can even be spread if you touch something -- like a plate or glass – on which these droplets have landed. [link to www.webmd.com (secure)] |

cosmicgypsy (OP) User ID: 74619032 United States 08/08/2018 05:55 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Yeah, my son's girlfriend was telling me she wasn't contagious...heh, I didn't think it wasn't and looked it up. It's contagious as all get out. The clinic doc thought it was a little fast for me to have a fever and swelling glands after just being exposed yesterday, but she wrote me a 'script and said regardless that just because I had been exposed she would've given me a 'script anyway. This is just too much, and I keep laughing...what are the odds? Dang. You never change things by fighting the existing reality. cosmicgypsy (OP) User ID: 74619032 United States 08/08/2018 06:01 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I had strep throat 2 weeks ago. Was told it could also lead to scarlet fever. Was informed if I developed a rash to see the doctor asap. I thought that shit was eradicated in the 1700's or something like that. But Im no doctor. Quoting: Brancolino X Get well soon. Thanks! Outside of being on the oven-warm side I don't feel bad. No body aches, no nothing else. Right glands a little sore, but just very little. ...I think this is one of those things I'm going to have to wait and see how this pans out. I've already started the amoxicillin, so hopefully if it's going to be a thing, then I'm nippin' it in the bud. That rash looks WICKED, though...harhar, I shoved two benadryl down her throat yesterday, just 'cause looking at it made me itch. I don't want to get THAT for sure! Yikes! cosmicgypsy (OP) User ID: 74619032 United States 08/08/2018 06:35 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | No it isn’t. It’s a fever that occurs if your immune system can’t fight off strep throat.. I'm not sure where you're getting your information from, but from the NHS there's this-- How scarlet fever spreads Scarlet fever is very contagious and can be caught by: breathing in bacteria in airborne droplets from an infected person's coughs and sneezes touching the skin of a person with a streptococcal skin infection, such as impetigo sharing contaminated towels, baths, clothes or bed linen It can also be caught from carriers – people who have the bacteria in their throat or on their skin but don't have any symptoms. Worst fucking thing I've ever experienced. I've suffered through lyme disease in 2016 and still am, and I experienced cold turkey heroin withdrawl 5 years ago. None of that comes close to as sick as I was with scarlet fever. I got it on my birthday, and my great-uncle died that day, who I was fairly close with. I was so sick I couldn't go to his funeral. It's a memory that almost 30 years later will not go away. I hope you don't get that shit like I did We are eternal... All this pain is an illusion |
cosmicgypsy (OP) User ID: 74619032 United States 08/08/2018 07:01 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The only thing that scared me was the possibility of giving it to one of my clients. The first person I called was my boss, to tell her I was headed to the clinic, and that I was likely going to have to miss some work. She was as shocked as I was. You see, I work with people who some have compromised immune systems, and my regular client has a nine month old baby. I'd rather stay at home, not making money, than to perhaps expose one of them to something like this. The doc told me after 24 hrs. of the antibiotic, then I'm not contagious. I dunno, I'm still just shakin' my head with disbelief. Interestingly enough, Scarlet Fever has actually been on a rise, and the medical professionals don't know why. I read that in the last link I posted. Hmmmm, I wonder if that has to do with antibiotic resistance....but I would think they would know that was the reason if it were so. Or at least so one would think. You never change things by fighting the existing reality. It started with an UTI for her. I guess it was way worse back in the day, like when you had it.
