as a child my mother had scarlet fever that developed into rheumatic fever and permanent heart valve damage
nothing to play with OP, get well soon!!

This is why I'm shocked that it's even a thing today, because I haven't heard about Scarlet Fever for DECADES. These days it's taken care of with antibiotics. If I do have strep in my system, then after 24 hrs I'm no longer contagious, and after the 'script is gone, then no problem whatsoever. The same with my son's girlfriend, the one with Scarlet Fever. It's really not as terrifying anymore....  I am at the point, in all honesty, that I have doctor trust issues. How many of these things do they get wrong? Maybe it was something else you have and they don't know what and just go with that. I am very afraid of doctors and hospitals anymore.
