Let's compare specs.

Start with Wah pedal - how many wah pedals can it emulate?

Mine has 13 types of Wah pedal.

I don't have a wah pedal. I could never get my foot to cooperate. The only pedal i have is an older Japanese DS-1. It took me 15 years to learn how to use it properly. Lol. I have a fender mustang amp, but it's nothing special. I'm just a basement player these days.

Analog is the best if you have the money, simply because one has the real physical box or amp, and you can see it and feel it..

But emulation of analog FX is the trend now and it can already run algorithms so detailed down to the circuit board level at such high sample rates that it's virtually indistinguishable in sound to the original.

Indistinguishable at bedroom levels.

Stage levels reveal the pain.

I use a Teese RMC-3

Mine has
Six types of compressor, plus output compression, speaker compression and supply sag(which gives a compression like effect.
so 9 compressors.

40 Drive pedals including, emulations of the T808 tube screamer and a modded version of it.

very in depth controls of each drive pedal, so i could take out the silicon diodes and put in Germanium ones instead, and then change the low and high cut frequencies to give it a different sound.

That's pretty much where I'm at today, with the addition of an old Boss 5 band parametric EQ pedal.

I have an older Morley Wah pedal, but I've never been any good with it. I use it occasionally as a sort of tone filter. Just find a sound I like and leave the pedal there, switching it on off with the separate switch.

it's all in one tidy multi fx amp simulator pedal board.. To record i would probably choose to go direct, from the xlr out into my Steinberg UR12 interface then into my PC via its USB.

I've used my little green TS since the 7th grade talent show, haha.

I've had it in pieces to repair so many times that I've lost count.

In my more metal days, I'd use it with a Boss HM1 to boost solos for feebacky goodness & extra squeal.

I love that pedal, it's like an appendage.

Re: How powerful is your Guitar Multi FX Pedal/processor
ok in terms of EQs this thing has -

The ability to place 4 separate independent EQs anywhere along the FX Chain.. i can place 2 Graphic EQs with 12 types of basic EQ from 3 bad passive upto 10 band variable Q to chose from.
And i can place 2 Parametric EQs with band selection Q width , and gain controls.

On top of that i can alter an EQ within the actual amp simulation block, and that has about 10 types from 3 band console to 8 band variable Q.

This is my year to set up a home recording rig after a long absence, always looking to see what others are doing.

I'm leaning toward a mic'd setup; playing direct/clean has always been a little foreign to me (esp in more aggressive parts), but I want the production flexibility it gives in mixing...decisions.

43 types of Reverb. with advanced controls on each such as echo density, stereo width, LF & HF time, Mic Spacing - early decay- early diffusion time- early level - late level- wall diffions - late diffusion - mod depth & rate - full parametric EQ of the reverb, and a Ducker which lowers the attenuation whilst you play so the reverb can be for example quieter whilst playing but louder the moment you stop.

I dont know much about it to be honest, but i do know that these rack based processors can do amazing direct recording, and i think the trick that the pros use is they can feed a totally clean unprocessed signal into their recording software from the rack processor and then feed that recorded signal BACK into the rack processor so you can then totally change the tone or amp or fx, and it's called -re-amping. you could say naah i dont like this mesa boogie, i will change it to marshall, and change the reverb type too. and you can just do it without having to record your playing again.

Ok im revealing that my rig is a Fractal Audio AX8 Amp Modeler +Multi FX.

its hard to give an overview of how powerful this thing is. But you can deeply tweek any FX block to emulate nearly any pedal on the market. flangers- phasers - delays - harmonizers - pitch shifters -chourus - Synths- tremeloes and rotary.

here is just one example of it being used.

You could for example modify a Marshall amp in software down to the resistors, and capacitors level.

Example.

I got a Digitech RP-255 and customized the shit out of my presets.

Used to have a Digitech Death Metal pedal and that's all I ever used with my Crate Voodoo... then it died. If I were doing shows I'd get another one. But I just play for the squirrels these days.

Nothing sounds as good as an original BK Butler Tube Driver. It is the only pedal I use with my Marshall and Les Paul. Same pedal that Eric Johnson, David Gilmore and Billy Gibbons use to get that sound...
