They are mad that the framers wrote it in such a way as to protect us from assholes like them.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Think the Constitution Will Save Us? Think Again

The subversion of democracy was the explicit intent of the framers.

Consider a few facts: Donald Trump is in the White House, despite winning almost three million fewer votes than Hillary Clinton. The Senate, the country’s most powerful legislative chamber, grants the same representation to Wyoming’s 579,315 residents as it does to 39,536,653 Californians. Key voting rights are denied to citizens in the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and other United States territories. The American government is structured by an 18th-century text that is almost impossible to change.

These ills didn’t come about by accident; the subversion of democracy was the explicit intent of the Constitution’s framers. For James Madison, writing in Federalist No. 10, “Democracies have ever been spectacles of turbulence and contention” incompatible with the rights of property owners. The byzantine Constitution he helped create serves as the foundation for a system of government that rules over people, rather than an evolving tool for popular self-government.

from the article:

These perspectives are vital at a time when many progressives regard the Constitution as our only line of defense against a would-be autocrat in the White House.

THAT right there is the epitome of lunacy.

Progressives DO NOT revere the Constitution in ANY way other than when it suits them.

That is why they need it to be a "living document" that can bend and sway to their will at any given moment.

That is why Obama's "fundamental transformation" of the government was so applauded.

Re: NYT: The Constitution Is An Out-Dated, Anti-Democratic Relic
Read Lysander Sponners "No Treason. Constitution of no Authority". There are only 3 documents in the series. I, II, and VI. At the end of #6, he states that the Constitution created the government we have today or it is powerless to control it. In either case, it is unfit to exist. The Framers of the Constitution shoved it down the throats of the delegates to that convention. The convention was called to tweak the Articles of Confederation to pay for the war debt.
G. Washington and his cohorts pulled off the greatest coup in all history.
 Quoting: Idaho Bullwinkle

Wow...that's about as ignorant and convoluted as the insanity written in the NYT piece.
 Quoting: An Average American Patriot

I take it that you will not read any of Lysander Spooners works. Your ignorance is showing.
 Quoting: Idaho Bullwinkle

There is enough documented evidence written by those who actually were there and participated.

Reading the drivel of a man who was born long after the original founding occurred doesn't seem at all necessary.

You think he is better informed than those who actually participated in the writing of the documents and attended the Constitutional Convention?

How about all those who participated and voted to ratify the final draft of the Constitution?
 Quoting: An Average American Patriot

Those that were at the convention were sworn to secrecy and there were no notes taken. What little we know was given very late in the lives of the delegates. If it was such a wonderful piece of work, why the secrecy? There are many volumes of literature that contradict the propaganda of High School history classes. I am old enough to know how to read at a collage grade level. Your comments indicate that you have not gotten your nose out of your phone long enough to read a book,

I will sit on the sidelines and watch both sides that are ignorant of the history of this Empire fight it out.

If they want to destroy the document that defines the sovereignty and guidance of this country, then those responsible can be hunted down and destroyed, because the rule of law will no longer exist, and they won't be able to hide behind it. There should be no mercy for the guilty as they are dragged into the streets. Destroying the Constitution destroys their protection also. It goes both ways.

This is scary:

" Our ideal should be a strong federal government powered by a proportionally elected unicameral legislature"

Federal government isn't big enough to suit them? It's already way too big, any more is a guarantee of absolute despotism which I suppose is precisely what they want. Like the Soviet Union - only bigger and more powerful.

Exactly.

The constitution is nearly perfect. We do need the senators to be appointed by their respective State legislatures. The Senate is supposed to be where the State government receives its federal representation. But it proved too difficult to steal the States individual sovereignty when they were reoresented.

And let the States regulate almost everything. The federal right to regulate interstate commerce really was all about keeping it free. They didn't want the States trying to impose tariffs or subsidize business in competition with one another.

If Californians want gay marriage and abortion at 8 1/2 months let them. If Arkansans want no abortion and teachers with guns so be it. It really would solve so many problems.

They're right. Let's abolish the constitution. Then 5 minutes later, Trump can send troops in to take control of every media studio in America including CNN, and all the 3 letter networks.

Afterall, it's only the Constitution protecting them from him doing what SHOULD be done. Then we can round up all the liberals and drop them off in blue states of their choice, forever abolished from Red states.

Sounds good. Then we can re-adopt the Constitution to be followed by civilized people.
