Well some of the the deficits would have been attributed to Bush but he had gimmicks to hide them. Obama exposed them and they were part of the deficit attributed to him.



For his first annual budget next week, President Obama has banned four accounting gimmicks that President George W. Bush used to make deficit projections look smaller. The price of more honest bookkeeping: A budget that is $2.7 trillion deeper in the red over the next decade than it would otherwise appear, according to administration officials.

The new accounting involves spending on the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, Medicare reimbursements to physicians and the cost of disaster responses.

The space force proposal is about getting proper funding for both military and civilian space projects. NASA is underfunded and is a soft target for politicians looking to score easy points with voters by criticising aspects of government spending.

The idea of bringing NASA under the military so it could be better funded, was something I first read about years ago. If you think I am wrong, look at the sixth suggested logo. Why suggest one with a slogan like “Mars awaits”, if the new space force was only about defence projects in earth orbit?
