While I don't agree with everything Alex Jones says I think his Right To FREEDOM OF SPEECH is being VIOLATED. NFL Player's should have the SAME FREEDOM without all the HATE. .. Quoting: TriniBadBoy While the player's may be expressing free speech. They're viewers are expressing they're freedom to turn them off. Big media takes partisan stance, instead of being neutral, I turn them off. When PayPal plays politics and blocks companies because they disagree with what they do, I block PayPal. Everyone should have the freedom of speech, but business is business. Player's are businessmen, they are selling entertainment. Whether you are an entertainer or selling something else, you should be keeping personal feeling and opinions out of it, as long as you can do it without compromising your values. If you find that in some situation this is not possible, i.e. baking a gay cake. You should have the right to say no, just remember your customer have the right to say no as well. Anonymous Coward User ID: 76813591 United States 08/10/2018 10:54 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | But this is America, you do have freedom of speech, but however you choose to exercise that right will still have consequences. Quoting: Dandroix The reason this is different from the public sphere of social media is the barrier to entry. NFL players acquire an extremely difficult to obtain platform that represents a whole city or region, while a pundit on fb or yt or twit only represents himself, and maybe his followers. Millions of people don't depend on the NFL to share their opinion. They watch it to escape the doldrums of life. And when they feel the politics seeping into an outlet of escapism, it rankles them. Free speech begets free speech. Private businesses that cater to a subset of the population can be expected to police their user base to maintain a culture that matches their founding principles. That's acceptable, and laudable in a free society. Let there be a black club, a white club, an atheist club, or a religious club, or a labor club, or a business club. And let there be non-violent opposition clubs for all of these groups. As long as the "club" is social and composed of individuals - no private organization should pretend to or actually enjoy the powers of Public governance, outside of what the rights to free speech and assembly allow them to lobby for. But their targets should always be the voters and not the men and women voted into office. Corruption of an official sworn to defend the Constitution, and a government designed to be of the People, for the People, should be a high crime. When "clubs" consist of Public officials and billionaires working in secret to manipulate the lawful government, the People suffer. Private institutions that become ubiquitous to the degree that their use becomes a borderline necessity to be a normal part of the greater American society should be held to higher, American standards. So if a player in the NFL wants to take a knee? That's fine with me. I defend everyone's right to protest. But I hate the choice made to subvert the emblem of the land that gives them the freedom to do so. And I will never watch an NFL game again because of it. It's not about their right to protest, it's about them protesting on someone else's dime. They are employed to entertain. This is not their platform. Can you protest at your job? Boss let you burn flags during work time? No. My personal issue is, I turn on TV on Sunday to watch football. Not hear their social or political opinions. I don't give 2 shits about the players opinions on anything outside of football. Hell, I don't even care if they are smart enough to spell football. If I want politics, I have the 24 hour pundit networks (disguised as cable news) for that. |

No other "argument" no matter how logical, emotional, OR RIGHT, will make a fucking bit of difference. Tell all of your friends and spread the word. Not just "boycott NFL"--that's lame. Just TURN AWAY. And ignore that whole industry. That's just it, they dont seem to care about the loss of revenue! You know the "end times" are near, when they are willing to "lose" money just to make a "social justice" statement, and willing to destroy the whole business. Like all of those crappy SJW movies they keep coming out with, to pander to different factions of the SJW cause. (Ghostbusters -females, A Wrinkle in Time-girl children of color...etc etc...) They lose money horribly on these movies, but keep making them. They (NWO) feels the "social engineering" aspects of these movies are more important than making money. They're similar to trust-fund babies who have enough socked away that they can play the game of cheap-ass virtue signaling, no questions asked or allowed. The owner of the San Francisco 49ers sympathized with what Colin Kaepernick was trying to demonstrate out on the field. That didn't prevent Kaepernick from being let go, however, mainly because he wasn't a really good player. If he were, I bet his former boss would have invited Kaepernick over to the team owner's mansion to talk about how they together could do a lot of social-justice warrioring against big, meanie, racist, homophobic, xenophobic, transgenderphoic, phobic-phobic patriotic Americans. . |

The owners are allowing this, begging for this no less. Why? Collective bargaining agreement with players is coming up. With massively lower ad revenues from networks, the owners can beat the players over the head and say "look what you idiots did" " Were gonna cut pay 40% from tv revenues to yall" The following year after the agreement is signed, you can bet your ass that anyone kneeling will be run out of the league. Quoting: Exthalmus00 Why? Collective bargaining agreement with players is coming up. You know more than us outsiders, but I bet a lot of what you're attributing to money is actually due to apolitical types, certainly liberal types, and luke-warm conservative types in the NFL, particularity outright liberals like Roger Goodell, either not caring about the political protests or, even worse, appreciating them. "We cruel, greedy, mean, cold-hearted Americans, even more so if we're white and wealthy, need our asses handed to us now and then." Then they give big donations to groups like the Clinton Foundation or Southern Poverty Law Center, put on a big smile, and say, "see, we're nicey-nicey, huggy-huggy, lovingly tolerant, lovingly non-racist, lovingly non-homophobic." Before you know it such idiots come around to saying things like, "Mao Tse-tung wasn't all that bad and inhumane. After all, weren't his intentions lovey-dovey?" . |

Yesterday there was a murder/suicide in Bowie and a double shooting with 1 dead right here in Waldorf. No place is immune to the violence anymore. We can all do better. We must find a way to make this work. Even though I am not a big contributor to the violence what can I do to help?? We all have to figure out what ways we can help the world become a better place. It's terrible to watch the news covering a place like Chicago and think of all the good people living there who cannot leave their house at night, and the innocent victims of drive by shootings. I hope the Federal Government does something to try to stop this because Colin Kapernick won't be telling anyone about it. Deplorable and proud of It!! Trump 2024 MAGAA |

Quoting: TriniBadBoy While I agree about the whole aspect of freedom of speech, you're overlooking one very key element here - The players are employees of the NFL, you do not have freedom of speech at work. Imagine that you're at work, and you decide to piss off your customer base by voicing your opinion about things, whether it be political or religious or something else altogether. Your boss would fire you so quickly for losing customers, some of which that may never return. The same thing should happen here, fire every last one of them. It's lost it's luster. Nothing like a good flag shitting show to boost ratings. Maybe Trump, Gingrich, Cheney, and all GOP Warhawks that had multiple deferments could be running the field’s perimeter with large old glories. No walking, recon shuffle. Then we could have Josh Norman and Richard Sherman breakdance and then crap on a large, unfurled, flag at midfield. Then allow all flag wavers the right to voice their objections! I would pay to see Bonespurs recon shuffle while carrying old glory. He would be able to taunt, not tweet! |
