I love beavers. People don't understand how critical they are in maintaining natural environments through their dam building habits. All the creatures of the swamp rely on beavers to make a home for them. They can be problematic but a few trees is a cheap price to pay for what they provide. Baby beavers are about as cute as animals get. My favorite wild animal.

Beavers also play a critical role in stopping flooding and keeping soil from being deposited in rivers and estuaries.
