I would soak in a bucket (with water and detergent) and dry in the sun.

Washing them might make things worse and they are very tough on the cycles in your Washer/Dryer.

What works amazingly is Arm and Hammer Pet Litter Baking Soda, you can find a box of it at the Dollar store.
Place inside shake show to get it all inside. Wrap shoes in pastc bag set outside over night.

Open bag in AM and shake out excess crystals

try freezing them (24h), it kills a lot of the bacteria that makes the smell.

if you do wash them, put them in a pillow case.

The easiest method I found is to just stick them in the freezer overnight.

Yes you should be fine. I'm not familiar with diesel shoes but I've washed my Nikes, Reeboks, Sketchers and various other brands with no issue. You could put them on a delicate cycle if you are concerned. Also tie your shoes laces in a double not or take out.

Put them in the dishwasher instead of washer dryer. If your sneakers get stinky, this will fix them good!

Neither wash in water or dry shoes which are leather or part leather, which means yours. Try some of the other suggestions, but keep them out of the water and extreme heat.

Some dish soap and water in the kitchen sink made mine almost good as new..just fill up, let them soak for some minutes and rinse off. Agree with another poster that the washer can ruin shoes

You can wash them. To remove odor, use regular laundry detergent and add white vinegar and baking soda. That addition has removed the smell of cat pee so it will remove the odor from shoes.

But NEVER put them in the dryer, especially leather. Set them out in the sun.

I've washed my leather uppers in the washing machine many times. Front loaders do the best job, but top loaders clean them a little. Do not put in dryer. Set them in sunlight with the tongues pulled open as much as possible.
