Re: If you have jury duty Monday and owe back taxes DO NOT SHOW UP!!!
I just got off the phone with my sister who works at the Philadelphia court house and told me they have a sting operation going on Monday and Tuesday for people who havent paid their taxes in years.

They sent letters out a month ago to unsuspecting targets and they are to appear for Jury Duty on Monday or Tuesday where they will be arrested.

So just wanted to warn any fellow patriot who has missed tax years or didnt file to NOT SHOW UP if you were called. Not sure if this is just for eastern PA or nationwide.

Re: If you have jury duty Monday and owe back taxes DO NOT SHOW UP!!!
I last served on a jury 14 years and actually enjoyed it... found it was nothing like what you see on TV.

Having said that, just last month I got a jury summons and immediately thought, well, FUCK! I'm not the same man I was 14 years ago... today I have PTSD and Major Depression... even took an early retirement due to all the stress, and I DON'T want to be locked up in a room with a bunch of asshole strangers.

The summons itelf really pissed me off, too. It demanded that -by law- I had to respond by completing an online questionnaire within 8 days or face a contempt of court charge! I figured, fuck 'em and waited two weeks before finally logging on to fill it out. In the box where they asked me if I thought I should be excused, I told them the truth: that my condition makes me really discriminating and that when I am challenged I become combative and intractable. I figured those three buzz-words would set off warning bells and sure enough... the very next day I got a phonecall for the Jury Office telling me I could be excused if I faxed a note from my Doctor [who hasn't treated me since I retired five years ago - turned out that my work was causing most of my issues so I got better after I bailed]. I explained that I was not under treatment at this time but still experience the symptoms when stress levels raise -which is also true- and that they really didn't want somebody like me sitting in a jury box.

The bitch told me I have to show up anyway and can discuss it with the Judge during the selection process!

On the appointed day [Aug 20th] I plan to show up unshaven and looking as shabby as I can - and am prepared to give the a show if that's what they want!

Another thing that royally pissed me off is that convicted felons can now serve on a jury if they haven't committed a crime in ten years; back when I was a kid once you were a convicted felon you automatically lost TWO things: the right to vote and the right to serve on a jury.

It's no wonder the judicial system is so fucked up and I want no part of it.

I would do jury duty willingly if they called me again. You should too. It's my duty to my fellow Americans to make sure that not only morons are on the jury.

Maybe the defendant will need someone who can see thru the prosecution's tricks. Would you want to send someone away due to crooked prosecution just because you couldn't be bothered to show up?

Unless they send the summons by certified mail, I’m not opening it and as far as I’m concerned I never received it. Plus, the courts don’t want me as a juror anyways. I was diagnosed with a bad case of the fuck it’s a few years back and am worthless on a jury.

that makes absolutely no sense at all; if you "don't" file, you have not made a claim. If you do file and "lie" then you've incriminated yourself, thus justifying incarceration. If Wesley never made a claim, then how can they arrest him?? any attorney worth his salt could have gotten him off.

 Quoting: Only Me

They don't jail people just because they OWE. People file taxes all the time, but are unable to make a payment. They don't go to jail. The IRS makes you pay interest if you have back taxes from year to year, and will eat your refund as a small payment. It's like having credit card debt. They LIKE when you owe back taxes and can't pay it because you keep giving them your refunds, and they keep charging interest.

People who don't FILE at all are hiding from them, and are not cooperating with the laws. That's what is a crime.

Important details to know. I see some people are hyperventilating saying it's illegal to owe any back taxes. It's not.

Failure to file your taxes is illegal. Filing your taxes, but not paying any amount because you are broke is NOT illegal.

You know what's illegal? NOT SHOWING UP FOR JURY DUTY.

Tax evasion is a crime.

Never heard of this tactic but how would we know if it is true unless people we know have jury duty but do not come back...

Something to keep an eye on.
 Quoting: DasViking

Having back taxes which you filed as a partial payment or zero payment filing is not tax evasion though. Just to be clear for those who read this and don't differentiate. Tax evasion is avoiding, and hiding from the IRS because you have no plan to even file any taxes at all.

True. If I’m ever on trial I want a panel of judges to decide my fate unless I get to personally pick all 12 jurors and nobody else gets a say. We all know it doesn’t work that way though. 51 million people in the US have an IQ less than 85. No thanks. I’ll take my chances with the panel of judges that hopefully have a better ability to separate facts from their emotions.

Jeez what a bunch of deadbeats.

Jury duty is a responsibility for a lot of reasons but mainly to give a fair trial to your fellow Americans and should not be avoided or taken lightly.

Paying Taxes is not something we want to do and sometimes feel those monies are not spent correctly but how do you think infrastructure is paid for?

If you dont pay your taxes that means I have to pay even more so government can pay for Fire Protection, Police Protection, Road Maintenance and Social Services so you can stay home and play on the computer and write nonsense as seen in this thread.

And all the vitriol against the police here well I bet you would change your tune if there were no police in your city.

I feel the same about unclaimed money where the state lists in the newspaper money owed. Several people think that this might also be used as a way to arrest you for something else.

I know someone who was afraid to claim like $300 from bed bath and beyond as they did not recall ever buying something there for that amount of money and never worked there either, so why would BB and B owe them $300 plus dollars. They never have claimed it.

Has anyone thought this before? Or known of anyone getting arrested this way?

Re: If you have jury duty Monday and owe back taxes DO NOT SHOW UP!!!

Yes. In the Wash DC area they used to do a phony "you won tix to the REDSKEENS game so come get your free tix" scam. The Boo-boos can't refuse them NFL freebies and they scooped up dozens of warrant runners.

Look up jury nullification. The selection people will never pick you if you say you believe in it.

I live in NJ. Plenty of stupid and ungodly statute laws on the books that go against God or the Constitution or common sense. I am very much convinced of righteous jury nullification....so I will probably never be chosen to serve.
