Perseids peak Sunday night! *60-70* Meteors per HOUR!
I love August for the Perseid Meteor Showers. Sunday from 4pm - 4am will be the peak, with 60-70 meteors per hour!

It should be a nice clear sky here...just the other side of the new moon so it will be nice & dark!

I was looking for a video...this one is funny...she compares the space dust to the size of GrapeNuts. WTF? How the hell big are GrapeNuts? Oh, well.

One light streak every minute is not exactly a shower.
I would not want to take a water shower where I get one drop per minute. When I was much younger I enjoyed laying back on summer nights swatting clouds of bugs while trying to watch the sky. The rest of the year it is to cold to watch the sky for very long. Post the event on Youtube and post the link here.

Yes...you should be able to see some tonight (Saturday) and Monday as well.

I think I read they actually start ~20 July and go thru the beginning of Sept, but peak this weekend.

On the day when the wagons come
I just pray that you let me on

Matthew 6:9-13
King James Version (KJV)

9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Matthew 24:42 - Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.

About 70% clear here.

What is lacking in quantity is made up for by quality...quite long streaks across the sky.

Can't wait until tomorrow. Going to find an area with less light pollution. Country road probably.

Hey WOLF. Most of the sources I'm finding now are saying dusk to dawn...I guess it would depend on how clear your skies are.

There is a photo at this link that shows how the viewing should be in your area (N America only...sorry Europe / Asia / Aussies).

I think, they need to re think the dates. Two or three days ago I went out and there were falling stars all over. Tonight for the big night I set up a hot tank and laid out for three hrs in a make shift hot tub, not a one.

I had a great time, set up a fence around the tub, I have a lot of wild critters in the deep remote woods. Then all the animals set off the panic alarm for me to come in.

I wish I could tell you how much they speak if you listen. When the cat gets a mouse all the other critters hear about it. Even the wild birds let me know when my young hens have gone off to far.

Yeah. I agree. My sister said she saw a few dozen 3 nights ago and was looking forward to tonight's "show."

We ended up with ~60% cloud cover tonight after weather station saying it was supposed to be clear. I've got light pollution to begin with, so the clouds only reflected it back and made it worse.

That said, it was amazing to lie in the yard staring up at the sky, in awe of just how many stars, constellations, galaxies are out there. I feel the need to get my old telescope out of the attic now.

If nothing else, the last couple nights have been a good reminder to stop and enjoy the simple things.

Cool that you are that in tune with all the creatures you share your neighborhood with! I love how in nature, how loud it can be in the quiet, if you know what I mean.

These cheep plug in things for mice still work great after 5 years, no skeeters out side when plugged in out side. You would be eaten alive in less than one min without them.
