Next time they take a knee...
Line up some military guys in full uniform with the players. For each player that takes a knee during the National Anthem, have a uniformed vet or active duty member step directly in front of them with a sharp salute to the flag. Block them from view, yet protect their right to do what they will. I like the symbolism.

The first step in preparing a nation for war is to demonize the enemy and rally support from the public.

The enemy must be viewed by the public as truly horrific. Only then, can the government unleash destruction against another people without backlash from the masses.

These events have been scripted, publicized heavily and will be used as the justification.

That's a good idea.

But even more effective would be to have paraplegics, veterans who have lost limbs in combat, and people confined to wheelchairs struggle to STAND and show respect for the national anthem in front of these healthy, athletic, millionaire thug assholes.

It is funny to me that only slaves kneel to their masters.

So much for your emancipation you dumb spotlight hogs.

Much like the slave gladiators of the Roman pits, I see this as the slave athletes kneeling before the cheering crowd of ticket paying masters that are there to be entertained before they go back to their daily productive life.

better yet have those vets form a line around said foolish want-to-be-over-paid to-play-a-child's-game-heroes....then the vets can claim their first amendment right to block said children from the field.

This is a social issue, it's up to the NFL and/or the team-owners to decide how they want to treat this matter. Passing legislature at the governmental-level to make individuals do things like this would violate the U.S. Constitution as it was intended to be interpreted. Patriotism and "Social-contract" means different things to different people; get over it ya'll.
Just another dumb issue to divide the citizenry when they should be focused on more important issues.

Re: Next time they take a knee...
I grew up in a time where we said the pledge of allegiance to the flag each morning at the start of the school day. We all sang the national anthem when it was played with our hands over our hearts, facing the flag.

Its certainly their right to take a knee, but its embarrassing that they do. Its just another symptom of the decay of values that we see every day.

Let the real men - the ones that give you the right to be an ass, step forward and show how it should be done.
The first step in preparing a nation for war is to demonize the enemy and rally support from the public.

Wrong. They are under contract to a team. If the team says stand or be fired, they can be fired. Jerry Jones sad it and the nfl told him to shut up. So I'm finished with the nfl.
