The problem is mixing cyclists with traffic on English Victorian road systems. Also, cyclists are prioritised at junctions. This forgets that cyclists crush easily and have no protective crumple zones.

It is common to see cyclists weaving in and out of traffic to make forward progress.

When we took the cycling proficiency test in the 70's we were told that at all cost you cycled deffensivly, gave way to traffic, dismounted at junctions and walked across, pulled over for vehicles held up by you on roads, etc, etc, etc.

Not so now, cyclists are preoccupied with theie rights and entitlements, but not so their responsibilites.

Also, there is NO speed limits for bikes and routinly cyclists will go down hills at 45-50mph on 30mph roads. It is common for cyclist's to have cars pull out in front of them, who's drivers simply do not see them, or fail to react in time.

I know of one person who did this and was killed when he suffered catastrophic brain injures.
