I had the exact same thing happen to me in a 2006 Corvette. I was passing a big rig on the freeway in Texas in the right lane when the lady truck driver decided to change lanes and clipped my left drivers side quarter panel and basically spun me out. She was driving a conventional cab Peterbilt and pinned me against the front bumper going 70 miles per hour. She pushed me down the road about a 1/4 mile and never saw me. There was so much smoke from my tires that she thought she had a blowout and pulled to the side of the road. It was not until my wife and I emerged from the passenger side of the car that she realized what happened and boy did she freak out. I was pissed as the car was brand new and only had 646 miles on it. Those old fashioned conventional cabs have terrible visibility and should be outlawed in my opinion - they’re dangerous!
Quoting: ScoobySleuth Why were you passing on the right? Quoting: FatherKool That was my first thought, but who hasn't passed on the right a time or two. Truck driver probably checked her right side just before Corvette guy came up at ludicrous speed for the pass. Quoting: Copperhead It was a six lane freeway. She was in the 2nd lane (next to the fast lane) and I was in the #3 lane after entering the freeway from an onramp about a half mile back, so I was simply passing by her, not passing in the traditional sense. I was driving the posted speed limit. Geesh people - so many armchair QB's...
