Argentine Cop Promoted for Breastfeeding Malnourished Baby
Argentine Police Officer Promoted for Breastfeeding Malnourished Baby

An Argentine police officer got a promotion on Friday after a photo of her breastfeeding a malnourished infant at a Buenos Aires hospital went viral.

Cristian Ritondo, Buenos Aires’s provincial security minister, tweeted that Celeste Ayala would be promoted from officer to sergeant because of her act of kindness in feeding the malnourished infant.

“We wanted to thank you in person for that gesture of spontaneous love that managed to calm the baby’s cry. That’s the type of police we’re proud of, the police we want,” he said.

If you are hinting that she should not have left her nursing infant to go work, then I generally agree.

However, you don't know her family circumstance. Likely, she pumps at work to maintain her milk or is nursing a child that is older that doesn't nurse as often.

Being a stay at home mother is better, if possible. Second best is not stopping breastfeeding just because you go to work. Many women use work as a reason for weaning, and they should not.

Where there's a will, there's a way.

Hey, bigD! Good to see you. How's your summer going? Is the wildfire smoke affecting you at all?

On this topic, yes, I agree. I think consistent recognition of compassionate and humanitarian behaviour boosts morale and encourages uprightness in the workplace.

Re: Argentine Cop Promoted for Breastfeeding Malnourished Baby
This story reminds me of when Salma Hayek breastfed a hungry baby on a goodwill trip to Sierra Leone:

"...Hayek said her decision to breastfeed another woman's child was an attempt to diminish the stigma placed on women for breast feeding. At the time she was still breastfeeding her 1-year-old daughter.

...The actress and producer was told by doctors in Sierra Leone that many mothers stop breastfeeding their infants within the first few months after birth because of pressure from their husbands. Tradition has it, in some areas, that it is not acceptable to have sexual relations with breast feeding women. "

So she needed a nanny to watch baby while she was at work, and breast milk is supply and demand. Otherwise what's your point

Virtue signalling can either be positive or negative. In this case, it was positive.

What is disgusting about encouraging a practice the makes its population healthier and happier?
