Monte Carlo has an international fireworks competition every August. One competitor a week.

Chosen competitors get Monte Carlo harbour to themselves for 24 hours to prepare their fireworks display.

The winner gets to do the Prince's birthday (Natitonal Day) fireworks in November.

They only pick the best from every country every Summer.

What a place to have them!

COOL! In about three weeks the National Fireworks Association is having their annual Expo downtown, where over 300 reps from the world's largest manufacturers/designers will be showing off their latest pyrotechnics. There is also going to be an International Conference, the last of which was held in Japan.

I just wish they'd all spring for a big-assed public show of their best stuff; but, failing that... how about some FREE SAMPLES? Wouldn't THOSE be some great goody-bags?

I do shows for a few people each year, I have 2 this weekend. 1 saturday in West Va and another sunday back home in TN.
This is the last one I did.


I do everything myself. I set them up on a wagon and then fuse them all together with different speed fuse so that I can light one fuse then stand by with a torch in one hand in case something does not light and a fire extinguisher in the other hand in case something goes wrong.


I worked a pro show in Knoxville, TN that was shot brside a tall building. My job was to stand on the building with an extinguisher in case something caught fire. I was 20 feet away from some of the lower breaking shells. I had to stand behind roof mounted AC units and vents to keep from getting hit. When the salutes for the finale started it was freaking crazy. I was the only one that would do it, everyone else was scarred. I got an extra $100 "combat pay"

Continued down the page a bit. I see the second picture coming into the screen and thought holy shit that thing is fucking huge. I immediately scrolled up to the first pic.

Very cool! I'd wish I could be there. As a kid I loved fireworks.

During my time in service, out of all the fray and fog, the massive ordinance would stop me in my tracks at time, shit would amaze me. Felt like hours standing there watching some of those bombs going off. Bring ya back into reality when that shockwave hits ya in the chest. Good times.
