[link to www.apple.com] load it. then load xp and dual boot. paralells is another way to do it within mac os, but if you are used to windows, the dual boot method is cleaner and easier to understand vs. virtualization technology. by the way anti-mac ac, there is nothing I cannot do on my mac that you caqn do on your POS windows computer, except I guess crash all the time or be frustraded by shit not working or being very well thought out. I've had macs before and loved them, but thought it would be best to put office in the windows format. Plus there are still some websites that only use window based browsers to work correctly. Would I be better off getting the retail version though? I'd hate to spend the money on an OEM version for it not to work and then have to buy the Retail. I'm not bad with computers, I've built my own system a couple of times, but am unsure about the whole windows on a mac. Does a 1 button mac mouse work in the windows mode? Life is like a jar of Jalapeno peppers. What you do today just might burn your ass tomorrow. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 169657i'm not getting into this argument with you but i'll state my side one time and one time only based on my experience with both. i am a big gamer and macs are not big on the whole gaming scene. which is why i choose pc. i have used pc's my whole life and have had very little problems. if you know what you're doing then pc's are great. i've had more trouble out of these os9 computers here at work than any pc i have EVER seen. OSX is good and i'm starting to like it more, but i've still had some program crashing, etc. but it's all good. just whatever is your preference, i couldn't really give 2 shits. os9? OK, lets compare that to windows ME Liberalism is a mental disorder. |

Does a 1 button mac mouse work in the windows mode? i would suggest searching some mac forums and see the success rate of the OEM versions running on parallels. like i said, it's been done but i don't know if there is a special way to do it or not. the non-OEM version loaded flawlessly. no problems at all. the one button mouse with this G5 does work within windows. you just have to learn the hot keys to hold for right clicking, etc. hope this helps. |

LuckySoul User ID: 103056 Austria 05/22/2007 12:07 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | i can only recommend the macbook - with parallels for windows stuff. [link to www.parallels.com] you can rund windows in "coherence mode" [link to www.parallels.com] i would get some additional ram if going that way though. OEM xp versions should work fine with paralles (service pack 2 should be integrated) but do not work with bootcamp (running windows natively) There is microsoft office 2004 for os x, so she shouldn`t need to use windows at all. There are sometimes small layout/formating issues, but i never felt the need for office under xp). ~"I know of no safe depository of the ultimate powers of the society but the people themselves; and if we think them not enlightened enough to exercise their control with a wholesome discretion, the remedy is not to take it from them, but to inform their discretion by education."~ Thomas Jefferson |

That should be enough I would think. Quoting: SmartAss2gb is the max. supported ... default apple store configuration is 1gb. apple uses very expensive memory, i would buy the memory somewqhere else (apporx half the price) and install it myselfe - as done here [link to www.5min.com] ~"I know of no safe depository of the ultimate powers of the society but the people themselves; and if we think them not enlightened enough to exercise their control with a wholesome discretion, the remedy is not to take it from them, but to inform their discretion by education."~ Thomas Jefferson |
