A Breakfast at McDonalds. A Short Uplifting Story
a little story i recieved;

I am a mother of three (ages 14, 12, 3) and have recently
completed my college degree.

The last class I had to take was Sociology.

The teacher was absolutely y inspiring with the qualities
that I wish every human being had been graced with.

Her last project of the term was called, "Smile."

The class was asked to go out and smile at three people and
document their reactions.

I am a very friendly person and always smile at everyone
and say hello anyway. So, I thought this would be a piece
of cake, literally.

Soon after we were assigned the project, my husband,
youngest son, and I went out to McDonald's one crisp March
morning.

It was just our way of sharing special playtime with our
son.

We were standing in line, waiting to be served, when all of
a sudden everyone around us began to back away, and then
even my husband did.

I did not move an inch... an overwhelming feeling of panic
welled up inside of me as I turned to see why they had
moved.

As I turned around I smelled a horrible "dirty body" smell,
and there standing behind me were two poor homeless men.

As I looked down at the short gentleman, close to me, he
was "smiling".

His beautiful sky blue eyes were full of God's Light as he
searched for acceptance.

He said, "Good day" as he counted the few coins he had been
clutching.

The second man fumbled with his hands as he stood behind
his friend. I realized the second man was mentally
challenged and the blue-eyed gentleman was his salvation.

I held my tears as I stood there with them.

The young lady at the counter asked him what they wanted.

He said, "Coffee is all Miss" because that was all they
could afford. (If they wanted to sit in the restaurant and
warm up, they had to buy something. He just wanted to be
warm).

Then I really felt it - the compulsion was so great I
almost reache d out and embraced the little man with the
blue eyes.

That is when I noticed all eyes in the restaurant were set
on me, judging my every action.

I smiled and asked the young lady behind the counter to
give me two more breakfast meals on a separate tray.

I then walked around the corner to the table that the men
had chosen as a resting spot. I put the tray on the table
and laid my hand on the blue-eyed gentleman's cold hand.

He looked up at me, with tears in his eyes, and said,
"Thank you."

I leaned over, began to pat his hand and said, "I did not
do this for you. God is here working through me to give you
hope."

I started to cry as I walked away to join my husband and
son. When I sat down my husband smiled at me and said,
"That is why God gave you to me, Honey, to give me hope."

We held hands for a moment and at that time, we knew that
only because of the Grace that we had been given were we
able to give.

We are not church goers, but we are believers.

That day showed me the pure Light of God's sweet love.

I returned to college, on the last evening of class, with
this story in hand.

I turned in "my project" and the instructor read it.

Then she looked up at me and said, "Can I share this?"

I slowly nodded as she got the attention of the class.

She began to read and that is when I knew that we as human
beings and being part of God share this need to heal people
and to be healed.

In my own way I had touched the people at McDonald's, my
son, instructor, and every soul that shared the classroom
on the last night I spent as a college student.

I graduated with one of the biggest lessons I would ever
learn:
UNCONDITIONAL ACCEPTANCE.

Much love and compassion is sent to each and every person who may read
this and learn how to LOVE PEOPLE AND USE
THINGS - NOT LOVE THINGS AND USE PEOPLE.

Re: A Breakfast at McDonalds. A Short Uplifting Story
Thank you for the story.

I did something similar a few years ago and it backfired on me. Homeless guy at Taco bell only had enough money to get a small drink. I bought him a couple of things to eat and sat with him outside. The first thing that happened was that while I was buying him food, this jackass behind me started bitching at me that the guy was probably a drug addict. I ignored him. Then, while I was outside eating, the manager came storming out with a broom and told us both to leave or he was going to call the police. Suprisingly, I wasn't in the mood to argue, so I left, but not before I made sure the homelss guy had his food to take with him. The manager said I was a stupid bitch for feeding him.

I truly can't stand people sometimes.
Well it seems so real I can see it
And it seems so real I can feel it
And it seems so real I can taste it
And it seems so real I can hear it
So why can't I touch it?
So why can't I touch it?

Re: A Breakfast at McDonalds. A Short Uplifting Story
I love the homeless. They're so sweet but they make me cry.
This is a good story. People need hope in their lives. We need the reminder that someone above also loves us. What we go through here on earth is simply a water drop in the ocean compared to the rest of all eternity.

Understand that and you can understand why we suffer.

Not, because she make it on anonymous way...and because it give us a moment of reflection, so her story was helpful at least for me.

Re: A Breakfast at McDonalds. A Short Uplifting Story
About 4yrs ago leavin Denver east on 70,stoped at a small truck stop to get coffee. Goin in noticed a family headed toward highway on foot. Headed back out something made me pick up them up. Dad mom child, they where Christ driven people(not like today but along time ago)when things were simple. They wore farm clothes from the 50's. The boy was Jacob ,They told me more about RELIGION to enlighten me than I ever thought possible. Their car burnt up in Denver they had what they owned. Worked for ever for a farmer who died ,his kids sold the farm leaving them homeless .Had got job in Kansas on farm headed that way . Just wanted ride to first rest area in Ks. (it was closed) I took them to fast food place we ate as the CHURCH GOING SUNDAY PEOPLE STARED AT US. Jacob ate his happy meal never noticed the toy. WE left made it to the next rest area ,stoped got out they made call, said things were fine. I made them take a twenty Jacob climbed up and honked my air horn. I waved goodby headed back out on the hiway. AS i looked back thinking I NOTICED ROAD BLOCKS THE REST AREA WAS CLOSED! The man told me about having access to one of the original KING JAMES BIBLE at the Smithsonian? He was in the military at the time . POWER CONTROL

OK OK OK...hang the hell on.

What exactly is UNCONDITIONAL ACCEPTANCE?!?!?!?! What the fuck does that mean? I'm to UNCONDITIONALLY ACCEPT a robber in my home? Or accept a child molester because he's just "lost"? Give me a fucking break. This happy clap trap tree hugging dreck ABSOLUTELY drives me fucking nuts. All this is is an attempt to help you "feel good". It probably never fucking happened. My experiences with homeless have been 100 FUCKING percent negative. You know why? Because they're lazy, and they EXPECT a handout. It's a bunch of shit. I WORK. I WORK HARD. And I'm supposed to "unconditionally accept" this and give BECAUSE they're homeless? No...no I'm not.

I give to charity, and even THEN, I am cynical because you don't REALLY know what they do with the money (think United Way a few years back...and think Red Cross during 9-11, those fucking greedy loser scumfucks).

jeeeeeeeeeeeez...I hate this crap.

to tell my truth, i'd rather give to some homeless people than united way. at least they'll get it w/o the giant middleman and associated scandels. i handed $10 to a guy and woman outside a takeout place the other day. he was polite and quiet. i didn't care what they did with the money. you know what they did? they went in and got a meal and said thanks.

Re: A Breakfast at McDonalds. A Short Uplifting Story
My college professor told us to smile at 3 strangers and see how they reacted. He said that our smiles were a powerful force in the world. I left class and thought about who I should smile at.
I saw an old man with beautiful blue eyes sitting on a park bench. I approached him with a big smile and said "Can I offer you a coffee?" He looked back at me with a warm smile and said yes. We sat for awhile drinking coffee together. He turned and said to me "This coffee went right thru me, I must go to the bathroom now... I'll be right back". So the old man got up and crossed the street to go to the bathroom. As he was crossing the street he was struck my a bus and died instantly. I ran over to the dead old man in horror. As I leaned over the old man a crowd gathered around us. "Hey, are you the one who gave this old man that coffee?" said a young woman in a wheelchair. "Yes', I replied. "That sure was a nice thing you did for him" the woman said. Then everyone started to hug me and thank me for giving the old man the coffee and taking the time to chat with him. As we were standing in a group hug in the middle of the road a speeding car drove by and hit the young woman in the wheelchair. I ran over to her and picked her up off the ground. With her last breath she said to me "You better get off this street, the traffic is nuts".
