Hi, in Goldsboro NC. Long night of pine cones and branches hitting the house.
Now that it's light I see not much water or wind damage.
We still have power. But, it's such a slow storm!

I see dear New Bern is being hit horribly, I go there weekly.

Our phones just got an Emergency Alert saying Flood Warning until 2pm.

Blessings to all and thanks for this thread, it's the first place I went to news this am.

Don't know how to post it but Louisiana Cajun Navy just posted a OMG video on their FB. Tall men wading thigh deep in the middle of the street of New Bern.

They're trying to help an elderly man who's hurt, and needs to get to the hospital. Probably didn't have the resources to evacuate.

It's weird how you can smell the briny ocean far inland when a tropical storm/hurricane is nearby. Stinks like a windy day on a fishing boat.

Facebook: Louisiana Cajun Navy

Need posting help for FB videos.

Video where they're trying to rescue 2 people in chest-deep water. Downed trees completely blocked the road so they have to walk 1/2 block to help the people. Will they be able to carry them out to their truck?

Louisiana Cajon Army already moving in to New Bern- - starting staging now. Have had several hundred calls for rescues.
Still too much wind to launch the boats- 70-75 mph gusts.

 Quoting: Luisport

So admire the Louisiana Cajun Navy.

From Facebook:

Heart breaking.

Louisiana Cajun Navy is getting calls every few seconds with people in New Bern, NC that stayed to ride out the storm.

They are listed as code red. Some of these folks are not going to make it (unless there is a miracle).

The police and all first responders, including Cajun Navy, are standing down as winds are too strong, and water is too high to go out to save them.

This group just stopped communications to pray for these people. They are saying these people knew this was to be the worst storm, and after a certain point it would not be feasible to send anyone out.

Winds are 100+ mph. People are already in their attics seeking relief.

Unfortunately, trees have fallen on some of the houses and now water is rushing into the attic.
It is just LOW TIDE!!!

High tide is to come in a few hours.
Please pray!!

From a Cajun on FB:
Please do not have people go into their attics without a working chain saw. An ax isn't going to cut it in a lot of cases.

They should go onto their roofs and use the ax to cut a hole in the roof from the top. Then they can enter the attic.

Do not wait in your attic without cutting a hole first!

**You will need to be able to flag down rescuers. They will not hear you. You will need to be able to hear their boat/helicopter and pop out of the attic and flag them down. Have white or reflective clothing as a flag. Have mirrors in hand with a flashlight. Be as reflective as possible.**

This is a 36 hour forecast loop from the 8 PM HRRR model. Just look at how slow that thing moves. And how those bands to the east just pummel the same areas for hours and hours. Not good.

That model is out the window! Folks, she is already coming on shore or close to it....she is losing her power, it appears pretty rapidly with what I'm looking at. This is fantastic news, if it holds.

This is incorrect. The storm is still nearly as deep as 2 days ago. Understand a 950ish mb storm is typically cat 3 to 4. The storms energy has transitioned to that of a nor Easter like Sandy. Weaker peak winds but spread over an area 2 or 3 times the size of a normal hurricane. The result can be storm surge as bad as a cat4.. but now spread over a long duration. There is absolutely nothing to minimize about this considering this will be significantly worse than Matthew and floyd.
 Quoting: MaximusRex

How dare you poke your head in here to correct me! rockon

I went off the rails yesterday watching this creature (I refuse to call her by her name any longer) she is just "the creature". I know better than to react to every little change and yet that is what I did all day yesterday....I am ashamed of myself and will now administer two swift kicks to the buttocks area.
