Sounds crazy but it looks like Flo will reintensify to a tropical storm over the unusually warm waters of Lake Eerie and Lake Ontario. pressure drops, winds go up, starting around 90 hours out to 108 hours out. Look out Upstate New York and Maine! I wonder if the NHC will issue a tropical storm watch... lol, but really...

Ooh, I used to get pancakes at place called the ‘Sugar and Spice’
near Plymouth. A few friends lost their businesses/homes from Irene.
I camp in that area frequently.
 Quoting: mona lizard

Yeah Irene was a mess. Im in Northern Vt, and we didnt get it quite as bad but it just goes to show that with these storms the wind is just part of it.

I’m on the north coast, close to Lake Erie...it's all connected.

Jacksonville has gotten 14.5 inches the past 24 hours, just under 15" total. The areas below it on the coast were the ones that have gotten 30-40+" of rain.

1945 CAPE FEAR FLOOD: This is what Florence could do

One of the most significant natural disasters in Fayetteville history occurred in 1945 when the Cape Fear River flooded from Sept. 17 to 25, and the river rose to a recorded 68.9 feet on Sept. 21. Hundreds of families were evacuated from the city and east of the river. Several downtown bridges were washed out, and people in canoes floated down Person Street. The grimmest forecasts for Hurricane Florence could surpass Matthew’s flooding of 58 feet in 2016.

God bless the Cajun Navy. Willing to stick their neck out for people, to put it bluntly, can not take care of themselves because of their stupidity. It's unfortunate that the people who are restricted by mobility such as the elderly and the handicapped get mixed in with that bunch. My heart goes out to all of them.

Of course every soul deserves to be saved but you can't help being frustrated at those who willingly put their lives in danger to be saved by heroes who should be saving lives of the people that really had no other option than to stay.
