The official WPC rainfall outlook (map from @PivotalWeather) shows a large swath of ~5-10" between Houston and Biloxi over the next 7 days. This forecast includes heavy rain expected to fall over the next 36 hours, not just Gordon. This forecast will also change, so stay tuned.

^^^^Future Gordon, in the Bahama's is projected to be a TS or maybe a low end cat 1.
The low on the left side of the graphic above is going to be a big rainmaker for Texas/Louisiana today. It is not expected to develop into anything more than a big rainmaker. They may issue a flash flood watch on that one.

This [link to earth.nullschool.net (secure)] is set to the current conditions, not the model setting. Gordon is not showing a spin yet because it has not yet spun down into the low levels, but he will within the next day or so.

The HRRR model for the next 36 hours indicates that a large plume of moisture will impact much of Florida, which is associated with Invest #91L. Not the best weather for Labor Day weekend.

We were told to expect some TS winds and some rain. As we were watching, it not only arrived a few hours earlier, but the wind damage by us was unexpected and Dade County, (Miami) got over 15 inches of flooding rain. We were taken completely by surprise. Not comparing anything, but systems have history of spinning up quickly

Tropical cyclone heat potential is on the higher end of the spectrum where Invest #91L will track this week, which includes the southwestern Atlantic Ocean and Gulf of Mexico. This can help the disturbance organize into a cyclone.

Our experimental Deep Thunder model (from IBM) is indicating (amongst other models) a weak Tropical Storm to impact the New Orleans + vicinity area later this week. Note this model continues to develop this storm over land, which suggests the "Brown Ocean" phenomena.

Could be a devastating European solution for Florence. That looks like a Cat 3 New Jersey or Long Island solution.

Well, 10 days out, so not quite reliable, but not lala land either

The afternoon Euro is another example of how Florence could drift westward and become a threat to the US East Coast. How it does so is very complicated, but certainly within the window of possible evolutions. #florence #tropics
