Tornado watch has been issued for parts of North Carolina and Virginia until 9 PM EDT!!p265 I sense this will be really nasty to east coast, maby worse than Sandy and Katrina. A very large area of very warm SSTs off the east coast and far into the Atlantic. Normally a storm like this that starts to move a bit north after forming off Africa would be a fish storm, but because of the warm SST it will pump the Canadian ridge massively and keep it directed towards the east coast US. The ridge looks like it could be so dominant that the storm could extremely slowly or even stall for a while in place over the area where the above average sea temps are and perhaps rapidly intensify the storm as it does so before heading for the east coast. Very bad indeed! Check that ridge! [link to www.tropicaltidbits.com (secure)] |
