Heart breaking.

Louisiana Cajun Navy is getting calls every few seconds with people in New Bern, NC that stayed to ride out the storm.

They are listed as code red. Some of these folks are not going to make it (unless there is a miracle).

The police and all first responders, including Cajun Navy, are standing down as winds are too strong, and water is too high to go out to save them.

This group just stopped communications to pray for these people. They are saying these people knew this was to be the worst storm, and after a certain point it would not be feasible to send anyone out.

Winds are 100+ mph. People are already in their attics seeking relief.

Unfortunately, trees have fallen on some of the houses and now water is rushing into the attic.
It is just LOW TIDE!!!

High tide is to come in a few hours.

They are in New Bern right now setting up for rescues. They have already received over 500 calls asking for help. Praying for everyone dealing with Florence.

Checking in from 20 miles south of Greenville, NC.

I spent the night at the animal shelter. All is good. We still have power, although half of our sweet gum tree was blown down. Thankfully, it missed our fence.

Winds are still a bit strong and rain is continuous now. Flooding is our main concern in this area.

All of you be safe and hang in there.

Don't know how to post it but Louisiana Cajun Navy just posted a OMG video on their FB. Tall men wading thigh deep in the middle of the street of New Bern.

They're trying to help an elderly man who's hurt, and needs to get to the hospital. Probably didn't have the resources to evacuate.

Eye is just about to make landfall near Wrightsville Beach, NC. It is now moving decidedly SW in part because the eye is contracting due to land interaction. Winds moving faster over water than over land, creates slower left side than right side which tightens up the eyewall. As the eye moves Southwest, there's a possibility that the center exits back into the Atlantic near Holden Beach and then makes landfall again near Myrtle Beach. Just something to watch. This is moving slow. 4 or 5 mph and will take about 12 hours to cross the NC/SC border some 50 miles away.

All calm on the Frying Pan cam... eye passing over maybe?
