Wilmington became and island..surround by flood waters from the Neuse, Cape Fear rivers and tributaries. I worked on a clean up crew (holding the sign..STOP/SLOW and there were many areas we couldn't get to for weeks because of flooding. Glad I'm in the mountains now. Great reporting on this thread. Thanks to everyone!  Yes, you nailed it with this. It seems the media is too obsessed with wind. The media's obsession with the wind and shit blowing around, regardless of flooding in turn influences their viewers to also tend to only care about wind. Hence, the silliness that ensues when people heard that Flo was downgraded from 4, then 3 then 2, etc. The media should focus more on the flooding in general and not just pack up when the winds die down. A lot of people watch the Weather Channel on TV. They're out there in the rain and wind, but not in an attic in a flooded house. I think that's why most people think it's a little wind and rain and nothing more.
