Useless documents, $200 in cash, photos no one needs to see and an old decanter that is supposedly from ancient egypt but is a replica from the 1800's.

Personally, I would use a cutoff wheel instead, either the pneumatic or Ac/Dc kind.

I need the chuck for my grinder to hold discs. If that's cheaper than the blade....
 Quoting: Justalittlebad

Heres my opinion from experience on those blades...
The first blade is only good for aluminum and roofing tin and very thin steel.

Those grinder cut off wheels will work but you will need quite a few of them.

Grinder cut of wheels will throw tons of sparks and may catch whatever is inside on fire.

If its its a fire protected safe it will have about a 2 inch layer of some white powder between the layers of the steel. That stuff could be toxic i dont know.

This is all dependent on what kind of safe it is. Is it heavy for its size or light?

There is no need to buy. Maybe he can just hire one for whatever time he will need it.

In the bottom of the safe, cut a large square hole with a sharp or new cold chisel, about an inch from each side. Use a big peening or sledge hammer with a short handle. That way you can close up the hole and re-weld it after you figure out the combination. After all it is easier to sell a repaired safe than one that looks like scrap metal.

This is drywall...the powder is calcium
 Quoting: BRIEF

Exactly. Drywall is a fire resistant material. It's supposed to keep your documents from curling up and bursting into flames or scorching during a (God forbid) house fire.

Many 'better' gun safes contain drywall, too, for the same reason.

If you're bored and want to see something amazing, go YouTube search for how a guy can get into the side of a couple thousand dollar gun safe in a just a few minutes w/ a <$20 cut-off wheel and angle grinder.

The only way to mitigate that issue, in my mind, is to purpose-build a cabinet/closet to surround the gun safe in order to prevent it from being turned on its side (exposing the thinner, weaker walls).

Getting into a safe through the front; w/ heavy, thick bolts, locks, and reinforcing material is a fool's errand. The side is practically nothing but a thin layer of steel sheet, some drywall, and the inner plastic material.
