They are expecting a big CME. Not sure how or why they know or can predict such a thing. Based on my research, I cant figure out any patterns, but they have been doing this for longer and have much more sophisticated equipment.

Perhaps it's simply a matter of knowing the correct wavelength to monitor, to predict such events or, going the conspiracy theorist route, they know what to do to actually trigger said event.
