This was how God felt was the way to nip it in the bud before it became a vicious cycle of abuse:

"If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them."

Admittedly, it's very harsh, but if people had actually believed the threat and seen the magnitude of the sin in God's eyes, very few people would have done it.

Unfortunately, with the gay and sexual liberation movements of the sixties, apparently that Vatican Congress which relaxed their rules was apparently where many Catholics believe the smell of sulfur entered their church.

And it makes sense because you can't say a word against gay sexual lifestyles anymore. Everyone must celebrate gay sex or else.

And that community knows how their community is enlarged. By targeting young boys.
