Same thing happened with my mother...this was oh a good 20 or 30 years ago. Anyway, after my father passed away he left a note with his personal possessions that had a letter apologizing for pawning her wedding ring, we assumed he did it for alcohol because it was around the time he was a big time alcoholic.
