the SSSO is operated by NM State Univ for the National Science Foundation but it has TONS OF EXOTIC OPTICS & INSTRUMENTATION (most of the facility is over 200 feet underground).... my sources say they saw something and made the mistake of contacting other parties to verify... almost straight out of the movie "Contact".
